People "boycotting" New Star Wars Film on Racial Grounds

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s changed. I used to enjoy reading his posts, but lately, he’s seemed different. I hope all is okay.

FUUUUUUUU. Thanks, faithfool. 'Swhat I get for reading and posting before coffee.

I think those sorts of feelings about black people are, unfortunately, still pretty common among white Americans. I don’t know how many people really still believe black people are inherently inferior, but I think it’s a lot more than a tiny fraction. Maybe 20-30%, or even more, if I had to guess. Most just don’t say it, I think.

I believe Django Fett was a Mandalorian.

Yeah I don’t remember him being one of the crazy racists.

I don’t feel like typing it out, because the website is 90s style and blocks copying text when that’s easy to get around if you really want to, but it’s a fake website: Disclaimer | NewsWatch33

It also has laser samurai (Vader even wears a kabuto fer chrissakes), Buddhist fakirs and pint-sized touaregs.

(also you realize that the fascists in Star Wars were* the bad guys*, right ? They get blown up and shit. That’s how you can tell.)

Yeah, nor do I. Refusing to hop on the bandwagon of hysterical criers of “OMGRacism!!!1” in any and all facets of race discussion that might not be 110% PC sets the bar for “crazy racist” exceedingly low these days. It’s impossible to have an honest discussion about race for this reason, and I’m not even going to bother.

Saying that black people are less intelligent than whites and Asians, and citing the (fictional) complete lack of black physicists, mathematicians, and engineers, is not exactly an “honest discussion about race”. That’s pretty common, run of the mill racism, actually.

You really think that saying black people are less intelligent, and (falsely) trying to justify this by pointing to the lack of black scientists, isn’t racist? And that not having enough white men in a movie is?

Hmmm… which has been a greater problem, and resulted in greater suffering, in our society: insisting that black people are inherently less intelligent and taking action on that, or insisting that movies should have more minorities, and taking action on that?

First of all, you keep bringing up a different topic from a couple years ago that isn’t relevant to this thread. But I don’t think anyone actually believes all racial groups have exactly the same mean intelligence across the board. If you do believe that, by all means provide some evidence. There’s evidence in the form of scientific studies to the contrary but it gets dismissed outright as “they must have had bad/racist methodology” because the conclusion isn’t what people want to believe. Other researchers simply won’t touch it because again, if the results don’t end up fitting the desired political narrative, they would get nothing but flak for publishing it.

That’s exactly the kind of thing that makes it impossible to have an honest discussion about race. Especially not here. And if you’re not even going to make an attempt to be honest about it, what’s the point?

You’re not accurately characterizing that discussion at all with regards to the evidence (and you seem to be unaware of the only actual study done comparing African genetic ancestry to test scores among black people, which found absolutely no correlation whatsoever between African ancestry and lower test scores).

But considering you thought that there aren’t any black mathematicians, engineers, and physicists, and you thought this (fictional) absence was evidence for inferior intelligence, it’s not surprising that you’re not so up on the data for this issue.

If you want to discuss this more, we should take it to another thread.

I don’t, nor are you accurately characterizing what I think, so it’s best you just knock it off.

No, you’re just wrong about this. Ron Unz, no friend of black folks or liberals, and no egalitarian, has recently published articles in his magazine that pretty much demolish the strong genetic hypothesis.
You’re impervious to evidence, and you don’t care. That makes you, wait for it, … rock stupid. In your deranged worldview, honest = free to ignore evidence you don’t agree with.

You’re not doing a whole lot of thinking. I would characterize this as a lot of blank space.

I’m comfortable looking at your posts to see what you think – if any of your own posts mischaracterize your thoughts, my ears are open.

As more of an olive branch, Rigamarole, I’ll offer this – I’ve said racist things in my past, and I’ve had racist beliefs in the past. I wish I didn’t, but I did. Recognizing this was a big part of making myself a better person, I think.

I don’t know what you believe, I can only infer by what you post. Just consider the possibility that you may have some racist biases and beliefs. It’s not the end of the world – many and probably most people have had such biases and beliefs at some point in their lives. Just consider it – maybe you do, and if you do, maybe you can identify them and try to improve yourself.

Again, completely disingenuous and uninterested in anything approximating a real discussion. No point in engaging.

Just to clarify:

I haven’t noticed anything related to race, but I mostly stay out of those discussions. What I’d been coming across though, was a different tenor on make versus females issues. I’m not sure what it is, but it comes across as angry or such. And I’d never remembered reading that from you before.

My guess is a multitude of rejections and no sex.
