PETA. I would like animals treated ethically.

I just would also like to eat them and wear them after they are treated ethically.

The only way Jesse was going to become a great man was if he could put somebody else’s interests really before his own, and I don’t think he ever has.

PETA is a disaster.

Jesse Jackson is a joke. Al Sharpton is worse than a joke.

Michael Moore actually does have a point at times, but there’s way too much disingenuous, manipulative crap from him.

I am personally morally opposed to abortion, though I draw the line on legislating that belief onto anyone else. I think all life is sacred, and I think unborn babies are alive in the most basic sense. I really doubt they suffer that much though.

It is completely obvious to me that any Christian who believes the Bible is true has no choice but to vote against abortion, because it is pretty explicit in the Bible that God creates us all in our mother’s womb with a specific purpose. It is the one thing for which single-issue voting makes perfect sense, because it’s basically state-sanctioned murder.

Also, I don’t really care about abortion. I have an opinion, but I’m not passionate about it one way or another. So I guess that makes me a bad feminist. I would hesitate to call myself a feminist anyway.

Oh, and Michael Moore is intellectually dishonest.

Ah, thought of something that fits in the political alley.

Keeping in mind the above, when I mention that I’m socialist (or even “communist” in my younger days and even now if the mood strikes me), immediately people think Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Castro, Ho Chi Minh … pretty much everyone that has ruled a communist nation and gives communism an incredibly bad name. No, you idiots, they are dictators, not communists! (Well, they might have communist ideas, but they’re ruling as a dictator and that’s why they’re a bad example of politician, not because they’re communist!)

Other than his views on vaccinations and health care in general, I can’t think of anything Maher says that’s over the top.

I’m really over how assorted people from the pro-life side want to tell me how sinful it is to use contraceptives or sex before marriage is; AND THEN they get caught screwing some other woman or using drugs or stealing or some other bullshit and then they say god forgives them but as a non-christian i am out of luck because I can’t bring myself to believe it .

I don’t like it. I don’t like them either. I don’t care if it makes you feel icky, go sit in the corner and keep it to yourself. Because if its a sin to do X y and Z then it should be just as much of a sin to have a child and mistreat it or be unable to care for it properly.

Leftie here.

“Genetic manipulation is BAD, m’kay”.
No it isn’t, you science-illiterate fearmongerers. Genetically altered crops feed billions of people.

And PETA seriously needs to deal it down, and I say this as a member of the worlds first Animal Rights Political Party that actually holds a seat in parliament (in the Netherlands)

I would have to agree.

My dad puts it this way: Michael Moore looks like he could be the “before” picture for just about anything.

So how does this fit my OP? Are you a pro-lifer who doesn’t like that bad behavior from other pro-lifers or did you just want to kick pro-lifers?

That’s what I was wondering.

PETA was mentioned several times in this thread, but I just want to add that they are doing a very bad job by making every vegetarian (which I am) or anybody who cares about animal rights look like a scatterbrain. They set their aims way too high.

He’s a PETA supporter, who doesn’t even train his dog because that’s oppression or something.

And as a vegetarian partially for animal welfare concerns, I have to say that PETA bugs the hell out of me. I admire that they really put themselves out there and get attention focused on issues, and groups like the HSUS and ASPCA really aren’t that into helping farm animals. (Not that I blame them, as most people aren’t really that concerned about what happens to, say, male chicks born at a chicken egg-producing site, while raising money for the poor homeless/abused dogs and cats is easier.)

But holy crap, guys. You’re really way the hell out there sometimes. If I hear one more time that computer modeling is a perfectly fine substitute for animal research I will stuff that “fact” sheet down someone’s throat. We’re easily decades away from that. Since most PETA members are pretty left-leaning I suspect they would flip out if their kids were handed graphic anti-abortion pamphlets, yet they have in the past targeted kids with charming works titled “Your [Mommy/Daddy] Kills Animals.” You’ve supported (monetarily and otherwise) the Animal Liberation Front, which has raided animal facilities and destroyed them/released animals, done terror-style hoaxes, and other frightening acts. And the whole “Save the Sea Kittens” (actually fish) thing - I mean, I get it that you’re trying to make the point that people only care about cute pets being hurt, but that point gets lost with your whole “whacko” image.

Another name for my original OP… how could I have forgotten Ann Coulter?:smack:

The little I’ve heard lately from Laura Ingraham is putting her in the same category & I really liked her!

I’m dreading the hotness that is Monica Crowley jumping onto the Crazy Train.

I can still picture Laura Ingraham crawling around a gay bar on her hands and knees as the story is told in David Brock’s book. I thought Monica was more of class act than Ann and Laura, but from what I have seen of her recently I guess not, boy has she aged.

As far as issues, I understand the arguments against a minimum wage, but I also understand that if business could get away with paying us in gruel, they would!

Everything you said, and I’ll add that the government that has the power to ban abortion today can compel it tomorrow.

…and imprison the people who were so compelled on Wednesday?

When lefty bloggers are parodying the stupidity coming from the right these days, a line they often toss in is “Oh, and Michael Moore is fat.”

Mostly i want to kick pro-lifers, because i always see them protesting at clinics that help women with lower incomes, which i have used for other ailments and not because i wanted an abortion.

It doesn’t seem very Christlike or charitable to do that, as if poor people didn’t deserve health care.
