People don't read OPs, or the majority of posts in a thread- or even skim them

Well, well, well. Hi Andrew, I am poster #22.

:: puts on Billy Jack hat ::

I asked you in a pretty nice way “Please don’t get angry with me Andrew, I am just a guy posting to a message board” at the beginning of my post. But you chose to specifically include me in your little Pit Thread here. That is not very nieghborly of you. I usually don’t argue with people. I like to say “I am just a person who protects children and other living things.”

:: takes off boots ::

I know that many of these points have been made already, but you know what, since you specifically tried to clown me and my post, I don’t care if you cry about it, Bob Oso.

  1. This message board is not your living room. It belongs to all of us. If i chose to “flesh out” an idea by giving an example, I can do that. Show me where I presented the idea as if I was the first. I didn’t. I believe I said, “maybe it would help the discussion if I provided an example” or something like that. That seems pretty innocent to me, explain to me how that deserves a “Oh my god, go to to the thread I link to in my OP” squeal. Oh my God, go to the thread Andrew links to so you can see what a crappy writer he is…Oh my God, there is a sale at the Gap on summer sandals. Man, what an excitable lil’ boy you are.

  2. There are several of your posts where you are not coherent. You ramble with bits and pieces of different rants stuck together. You use strange spacing, punctuation, type sizes and type colors, which make your posts even more difficult to read. Read your OP and post #10. I understand some of what you are saying, but I can’t grasp your total concept because you are all over the place. You can’t write like you are thinking out loud. I mean, you can if you want, but no one is going to understand you. Because you can’t write very well, don’t be suprised if people don’t respond in exactly the format that you want. Hell, even if you wrote clearly, people are still not going to write in exactly the same way that you want them to. You were already whining on post #5.

  3. People kept on saying the same thing and providing examples because you show repeatedly that you don’t understand. See post #5. In your example in this post you show that you are not understanding the complete process. In post #10 you make statements like “It is hard for me to believe” and “you guys are leisurely assuming.” In post 13 you whine to a poster “how about clarifying instead of insulting.” These statements would lead most people to believe that you either don’t understand or don’t agree. Therefore, it seems that most people would think you need more info or maybe an even an example.

  4. You complain about other dopers not reading posts, but it seems that YOU don’t even take the time to read YOUR OWN DAMN POSTS so that you can understand how people are reacting to you. Before you go around pitting posters, maybe you should slow down and think about how you are communicating with people. People were being polite to you, but you were being rude to them. That is the way to isolate yourself and get people annoyed with you.

Do you understand me Andrew? Are we cool? If we are not cool, then shoot off your mouth some more, do some more pissing and moaning about how we should all behave in your presence on a freakin’ message board!

Yes, absolutely, I will be more coherent and succinct w/ my OPs in the future.

And yes, I admit I changed my mind now that you guys argued well that

-seeing the signs (which have little argumentative value) makes you remember more the television and radio spots containing platform policies and promises that you hear for that candidate- I hadn’t considered that;

I also admit I was wrong when I argued that voters never vote based on how many signs for a certain guy they’ve seen; I was thinking of important elections, and was giving much credit to the American public; but you were right when you explained that when it comes to the more minor races that many people don’t know about/don’t care about but that are also on the ballot, they may very well, if not going w/ their political party, go w/ whomever’s name they remember seeing more. Again, I hadn’t considered this b/c I’ve never voted :p.

However, I also hadn’t made clear in my OP or following posts all the things you guys posted that I did absolutely agree with, such as

A.) Political signs in a neighborhood can show people that they should vote for candidate X b/c they share the views, needs, values etc. of their neighbors, and
B.) People put these signs in their private homes and business yards to show support for candidates

On these topics, I NEVER disagreed, but by my attitude and ranting when I disagreed with the red-colored argument above ^^^ (which I’ve now agreed to), and also to this argument vvvv

- Signs help uninformed people learn about candidates, or at least inspire them to go learn about them

which I still disagree with until I see evidence to the contrary- made it seem like I disagreed with arguments A.) and B.) above- which led the posters in the thread to repeat these obvious-to-me arguments, leading to my frustration.

The failure to communicate lies very much on my part; I should have started a new thread in GD arguing against the red and bolded arguments above.

However, this Pit thread wasn’t just b/c of you guys- don’t feel like I did this just b/c of that thread, it was just a good opportunity to start a complaint on a frequent occurence :p. Sure, you guys were repeating things in the thread mostly b/c you thought it needed repeating- that seems to be the situation, doesn’t it?- but we all know that isn’t always, or even usually, the case in many threads.
