You know what, I quit!
Well, not quit. But I’m going to cut back on poker, and focus on other things. I cannot tolerate being viewed as a degenerate.
I was at a party last weekend and people were giving me shit about playing poker more than ever.
I’m about to walk away from something that I enjoy and can be potentially very lucrative. I’m letting ego, vanity, peer pressure, and desire of people’s acceptance rule me. I hope that I’m making the right decision. I guess people will be happy.

Anyway, it’s been really fun posting here this summer. I hope you guys are having as much fun as I am.

Who cares? Think of the money and smile. If you want, tell people you sell used cars, but do what you like doing. You emphasized how much effort you’ve put into getting good at it. Why let that go to waste?
On the other hand, if you find something else you like better, go for it.

Lame gazelles?
I’ve discovered a game at every casino I’ve been in where I never lose money. It’s like a slot machine but very nondescript and usually off to the side and out of the way–like the casino doesn’t want you to know about it.
Every single time I put bills in it, I win the exact same amount in coins. Man, I can play for hours and I always break even!
I smell some bullshit!
Yeah, every now and then those kind of machines get released out onto the floor. But, casinos don’t know it. At first. The machines last a very short time on the floor, and is hard to make a lot of money from them. Think “Indiana Jones”.
What happens is…
Mmm…ignorant about casinos. Whoosh. I guarantee just about every casino has 'em. I’ve also seen them in every arcade I’ve been to, the payoff is the same but the graphics suck compared to everything else there.

Alls I have to do is insert my “player’s card,” and enter the secret “winner’s code,” and it spits out twenties.
You guys are lucky! I’ve been shoveling quarters into this damn parking meter for hours, and never won back a penny!
The only guys I know who’ve made money at cards made it running the games, or, far less often, playing sober.
The women made it playing black-jack and poker, mostly smaller pots with the infrequent big one.
None of them talk about it much.

Oh really. I play craps and am not addicted to gambling at all. I’ve also won and have not spent dime one on coke or a hooker. Your are making very sweeping generalizations, my friend.
Surely, you have scientific surveys that back all these assertions about craps and poker players, correct?
Again, another sweeping generality with no basis. I play craps, and treat women with respect. Ive yet to be at a craps table where I have seen any woman treated poorly. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen entire tables get behind good woman shooters, and cheer her on as they win money for the bettors.

I cant see this. I have a LOT of friends who play casino poker, and never have I seen or heard anyone at a party give them a hard time about it. First of all, I doubt you were invited to any party; and if you were, you probably were bragging about what a great poker player you were the other guests started getting sick of hearing it and started riding you about it. UUU there guy at parties who brags to everyone what a great poker player he is.
I doubt the lucrative part.
We all have our problems, Sharing them here can be a misstake.
Trust me, no one cares, either way. Wanna play poker? Knock yourself out. Just don’t bore us with it.

You know, it’s funny. I’ve played poker for 3, 4 years now, and have never once gotten shit about it from anyone. The only reactions I get are interest or apathy.
Maybe it’s not the poker. Maybe it’s you.

I’ve played craps and I’ve never been treated badly. In fact my 70+ year old mother won at craps a few weeks ago and she wouldn’t have been playing if she was treated badly. I’ve also not seen how poker players are any better than any other gamblers.
