Ah. Yes, then, you are right, I did screw up. That trip wasn’t really a turnaround since that 16 hours was broken by a long nap in Lost Hills. Guess I was still tired when I wrote that.

Uh… perhaps I’m coming into this trainwreck a bit late, but are you seriously saying that even though you hate a class of people based upon one biological reason (their age), you’re not a bigot because you gave a speech supporting another group of people who are discriminated against because of another biological fact (their sexual orientation)?
Or are you being sarcastic and I just got totally wooshed on this one?
I hope it’s the latter, because the logical disconnect of the former causes heads to explode.
ETA: upon review of some of your previous posts, the logical disconnect is real.
Oh, well. We’re all human and all that.
I’m curious; what’s it like being an absolute idiot? Seriously, is there an awareness of your idiocy, or do you haul your ass through life thinking you’re just like everyone else on the planet? Do you associate with other idiots, or is it a solo thing? Is there a training program, or are you a self-taught idiot?
The fact that you dislike an entire group of human beings for reasons beyond their control means that—read carefully, Sunshine—you are, indeed, a bigot. I don’t think anyone said that you necessarily hate gays, blacks, Jews, Puerto Ricans or any other group (although, given the source, it wouldn’t surprise me at all; a bigot is a bigot is a bigot). Most of the thick-headed redneck shitheads I encounter in this neck of the woods hate Hispanics just as much as they hate Blacks (or Jews, or AyRabs, or…), why should you be any different? You’ve already shown that you have about the same level of intelligence, compassion and sociological awareness as the aforemention shitheads (probably the same number of teeth, as well).
Wow, so you gave a speech at school supporting gay rights?! What a surprise! You’re so progressive! What if those gay people were under 12, would you still be supportive, or would your hatred of their age override your acceptence of their gayness? Do you hate black, Jewish or Puerto Rican kids more or less than other kids; or are they all about the same?
It’s past midnight, so I’m closing up for the night, but don’t you have to be a ridiculous, intolerant bitch somewhere else? Run along; you’re not even interesting enough to bore me. You’re just…sad.

Bigot: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance (from Merriam-Webster.)
If we go by this definition, I am not a bigot. I’m not “devoted” to my hatred of children, and children are not a racial or ethnic group. I include homosexuals here, because they are members of a group based on biology and they will never escape that group. They will be gay for their entire lives. Children will not be children for their entire lives. They will grow up. There was a discussion several pages back about ageism, and I guess I can get on board with that. I’m an ageist. Whatever. As far as race/ethnicity/orientation goes, I have no prejudices. Live and let live, love and let love.
Gotcha.
So if I hated Michael Jackson when he was black because he was black, and like him now that he’s bleached himself somehow, I’m not a bigot?
KEWL!
BTW, Frank, if you set your posts-per-page settings to a more-managable 30 (like all right-thinking people do), you would be seeing the glory that is page 37.
Hmmmmm… no, if you still hate black people for being black (who are still black), you’re still a bigot.
I laughed, I cried. It was better than Cats!
Ahhh, the screams of reason being tortured. So enervating!
I don’t think that I assumed anything–your own words are here:
Lest you say that this was in your younger days, let me remind you that you posted this a couple of days ago.
Evidently you want some sort of allowance because you are older and have a deteriorating condition. It is irony in it’s best form.
I love this! It’s perfect. When I tell someone something as a matter of fact, and then 10 mintues later tell them something flying directly in the face of what I just said, it’s incumbent upon them to turn into Hercule Poirot and figure out precisely why things just don’t seem to add up instead of just telling me I’m full of shit.
It’s a Swiss fucking watch. This is going to make Saturday night at the bars so much easier.
Ok, let’s look at it this way (and I may have covered this way back there somewhere but it’s kinda fuzzy):
I don’t hate kids because they are kids. They can’t help being kids. I hate kids because of the things kids do, because of the way they act, because of the special treatment that everybody feels they deserve, and the special treatment that many parents feel they deserve for the “sacrifice” they made in having kids. I hate it when an infant dies and everyone tells me it’s sooooo much more tragic than when an adult dies. When I say I hate kids, collectively, that’s what I mean.
Now, racists, on the other hand, racists hate blacks or Puerto Ricans or whoever because of the color of their skin. It’s not because of something they do, or how they act, or how people think we should all act around them. My great grandfather The Racist Asshole hated black people because they were black. Period. Homphobes hate gay people because they are gay. They may claim they hate gay people because of teh buttsecks, but they hate the ones who are celibate too so that’s out.
You think the difference is trivial, but to me it’s the difference between hating someone for who they are and things they can’t help and never will be able to change, and hating someone for what they are, and the attitudes and special treatment surrounding them. Kids grow out of it. Gay people don’t.
So you hate over indulgent parents. We can agree on this. But, let me ask you a question–at what age do you stop hating the person (the kid)? If they read at 3 do you hate them less than if they read at 5? It is fine to prefer not to be around children, but to actively hate them? I don’t get it.
So … is the planet Vulcan as hot as they say?
I can tolerate a well-behaved 12 year old. I can’t think of anyone I like who is under age 17, but if I think of somebody I’ll get back to you. I am a great babysitter if you pay me enough, by the way. I don’t think reading has much to do with it–I read at 3 1/2 but I’m sure I would have gotten on my own nerves now. And what do you mean by actively? As I’ve repeated uh… repeatedly, I don’t follow them around and yell, I don’t say mean things and hurt their feelings or any sort of “hateful” behavior. I ignore them. Unless they are in my yard, or otherwise invading my space. If a kid is acting up in public, it’s the parent I call out, not the child.
