Clearly.
Thanks for the English lesson.
You are not applying but you did apply, so this matters. Call it what you want, you applied for government money to help you out.
How so? You came up with this “not all parents deserve children”.
I keep hoping you’ll learn to understand it.
Uh huh. I’m not applying but I did apply? And, I don’t call it what I want, I call it what it is.
So that strange string of words was meant to say that you want to go back to the original question that wasn’t even asked?
I speak and write it well enough to make myself understood on difficult subjects in a language which is my second (or third) language, although I do not live in a Country where it is spoken. If others understand me, you will. But perhaps you can’t handle the content, so complaining on the grammar is easier?
You did apply, at least you said so in this thread. It has been subject of several discussions, I will not search the 38 pages for that cite.
It has been asked by several people, not just me. You never answered it.
I know you like to remind us that this isn’t your primary language and you don’t live where English is spoken, but do you also realize that maybe that makes you a little out of the loop on what disability payments are in this country? Let me give you a hint… it isn’t welfare. Welfare is far, far easier to get.
If you insist on calling it welfare you insist on insulting the millions of people who are disabled. I realize some in this thread don’t mind the insults that disabled people have been given (freeloaders, sponges, non productive), but it is an incorrect assumption and no better than the people who believe children are less important than anyone else. Why is your prejudice okay and theirs isn’t?
If you are saying it just to “show” someone how it looks when they say something about kids, that makes you a troll (and not a very good one). Which is it? Are you a troll or are you prejudiced against people who are disabled?
And playgrounds require constant maintenance? C’mon now.
Not at all. I was comparing playgrounds to parks and trees on the street: things that beautify a city, get the citizens outdoors, and generally improve the quality of life.
There are plenty of these as well. I live in San Francisco and am taxed out the ass for all manner of services I do not and will never use.
Sure. I just have a fundamental problem with people who don’t vote and kvetch about the way other people do vote. I’m aware that you feel your vote doesn’t count, but, when you’re moaning about smaller, citywide issues, your vote caries far more weight.
I’m not really sure how my post of “…For the record, I’d have no problem with you getting some of my tax money for a legit disability, regardless of how I feel about you. It seems simple to me…” led to this response. And I repeat only because I think that paying taxes that go to the less fortunate isn’t something that should be whined about. Taking care of your fellow man, all that.
Oh my, did yous take any of that seriously?
Well, maybe that’s my fault for not including enough smileys. :smack:
Okay then, here’s a belated few that probably should have been included…
:smack:
And if you’re gonna co-sign and post in tandem with your ilk you should probably keep up with what you’re agreeing. :smack:
BTW, just because it’s something you don’t understand, can’t grasp, can’t keep up with, can’t remember, didn’t read all the previous relevant posts, etc… it doesn’t logically follow that I’m the “tardo” one. That nothing-special-when-a-parent-dies troll’s bait… erm, discussion… had come up pages ago right along with the nothing-special-when-a-child-dies baiting tactic. It was just being attempted and recycled again, probably in an effort to keep this trainwreck going just a little while longer with a new and unsuspecting target, (aka Birdmonster). :smack: :smack: :smack:
Now, have you taken any of the above seriously?.. well… just don’t.
[pssst… and not that it really matters all that much, but I’m actually a dudette.
:smack: :D]
I never said it was a Good Idea—simply pointed out that the child is in NO WAY RESPONSIBLE. You can’t argue with that right?
I’m a born and raised Californian and, no, only a fraction of a single cent of my paycheck goes to the Octomom herself. And what’s the deal with taking her first child, exactly? I also never said I supported sending them home with her, but thanks for putting words in my mouth. I again ask: is the child responsible? No. And so the Octomom’s going to mooch my tax dollars. So fucking what? It really doesn’t make a difference to me. I can see why you’d have a gripe with it, but is foster care a better idea? Just cause she’s popping out a litter doesn’t mean she won’t care for the child. Maybe part of my checks for the year buy the kid some pampers. Other parts will go to other people I’ve never met. We’re just not going to see eye to eye on this.
You’re right. We should send those kids to the coal mines. Once they put into SS, then they can get some money.
Snort.
You ever known anyone who’s had a young child die? A miscarriage? Drunk running over their sister? I’m going to guess no. It’s the only way you could be so callous and detached. You ever think that it might split up marriages, cause a life-long depression, destroy families? It’s probably pretty fun using that fucked up android logic though. Must make you feel pretty awesome.
There is no community center near me. Even if there was, I wouldn’t use it. Why should I pay for the people Southside to have one? I’m not going to use it, ever.
They were given their own line in the Capital Projects section of the budget. I am paying for them even though I will never use them. This directly counters your claim that people with kids are not paying for anything they don’t use. It would be nice if you could just admit you were incorrect and move on.
The tennis courts had their own item on the budget for maintenance, so you’d have to be incorrect about them costing zero. I imagine their maintenance would be similar to that of a playground. Different target audience, though I’d be more much more likely to use a playground than a tennis court. As Sleeps With Butterflies noted, sometimes adults do use them. They are not KIDS ONLY: NO ADULTS ALLOWED.
Not all kids HAVE their own yards. Many kids who do have yards don’t have all those swings, slides, etc. If you have no problem with the fact that I have to subsidize people playing tennis and riding bikes, why do you have such a big problem with playgrounds? They are just about exactly the same thing.
The elderly and disabled aren’t going to use the bike lanes or tennis courts, but they could sit and eat their lunches in the playground on a bench. Anyone can use a playground. It’s just a park with some toys in it. A tennis court? Rather exclusive.
You have proven you will gripe about anything/everything, playgrounds being just one of those things.
I was never asked for my individual opinion on any government or council programme but being a member of a democracy I realise it is all swings and roundabouts. Somethings benefit me, somethings benefit others.
After all this whingeing you now tell us you can’t even get off your arse to vote? Well you reap what you fucking sow!
Have you ever seen a building with disabled access? Sounds at street crossings for the blind? Disabled public parking? Access to public transport? Are those services provided for free?
Once YOU pay tax it becomes EVERYONES money. You know what? My tax helps unemployed people, makes pretty playgrounds, upkeeps awesome parks, supports the elderly, supports the disabled, arrests criminals and then defends them, treats people in hospital, builds and fixes roads, maintains and updates museums, art galleries, libraries and zoos, subsidises medicine and healthcare, provides sewerage treatment, the electric supply, water supply and educates children.
Once some of that money was mine (actually I’m a smoker so I pay way more tax then many) I’m not quibbling about the disabled or art lovers ot trampers using some of MY tax.
We all need to contribute, that is how society works.
If being a bitter old trout does it for you, then go for it but don’t try to pretend you are personally paying for raising other peoples children.
Of course it is welfare! It comes from the public purse. It comes from society realising that people who are not able (from no fault of their own) to provide for themselves need help from the rest of us. That is the very definition of welfare! I can not imagine anybody calling a disabled person a sponger that would be as crazy as calling a child a sponger.
I haven’t read this whole thing(Jeebus Krist, how could I) But I want to congratualate Curlcoat for being so strident. Lord knows, it’s hard, I tried once but gave up. I was weak, but you have it in you**Curlcoat[/B Don’t let them scare you, make your statement known.
Until you read this whole thing you might not want to congratulate Curlcoat. She is not so much the champion of a cause as an unpleasant, bitter, illogical person.
There are plenty of much shorter threads she can read to figure out what curlcoat is about.
Curlcoat is about curlcoat.
I have two children. I have never used the dog park in my town, and I never will.
It’s because an adult has had a chance to live and experience life, even if it was cut short. A child hasn’t even had the chance yet. You could say a child has been cheated out of more because of this.
curlcoat is a microcosm of the red states which complain about skyrocketing federal taxes while pretending not to know that they are net benefactors of federal spending.
