I read a quote once. It was a famous photographer, and he basically said that women don’t have their true face until their late 30s or so. That’s when the true bone structure and character start to show up. Up until then, it’s baby fat and smoothness that don’t begin to hint at who the person really is. I think I have to agree with him.
[QUOTE=Zeldar]
I tend to agree on Jodie. It’s making me curious if there might be a sub-group of people in their “golden years” who look much better these days than they did as younger people.
I started a thread on this very topic about six months ago. One of my nominees was Suzanne Pleshett who gets better looking every year.
I couldn’t locate your thread. Can you provide a link to it?
JOAN JETT
Warning SOUND in the first link:
My jaw dropped when I saw this video of an updated “Bad Reputation”, used as a promo for the show “American Chopper”. Total Hottie.
If you’d rather a still pic rather than play the video, this pic is from about a month ago. She’ll be 50 next year.
I stage-managed a performance of hers in 1991. Spent an afternoon with her and had dinner with her. She was smokin’ in her 60s.
The picture is from 2003, she would be 72 in this picture. Means she’s 76 now and this is the most recent picture I could find.
Not bad at all.
Another favorite of mine, 61 year old Sally Field.
I am embarrassed to say I don’t know how to do a link, but the thread was in Cafe Society. I started in on January 2, 2006 (longer ago than I remembered) and I called it Age Cannot Wither Her.
You realize that many of these people have had some very expensive work done, right?
Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but they don’t look like that from a natural aging process. I know a lot of women that have had lots of work done and say that the earlier you start having small procedures done, the better you look as you age. I can’t imagine being in the entertainment industry and not having some work done.
Khandi Alexander from CSI Miami is pretty amazing looking for 50.
A quick scan shows some there not yet mentioned here.
I’ll add John Schneider. I got to hang out with him at the premiere of his new independent film, Collier & Co., and while he is getting a few wrinkles, he is still looking good. I hope I age that well.
Halle Berry is 41 and possibly the hottest woman on the planet. 18 years my senior but I’d slip her the sausage any day of the week.
If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the bathroom
Well, you know she has to set aside some time each month in order to look like that.
Kim Basinger at 53 shows some “slippage” - but I suggest that she shows less wear than one might expect at this point in her life: 20 years after 9 1/2 weeks and 25 from Never Say Never Again.
Mary Hart is closer to 60 than 50 and looks closer to 40 than 50 to me.
Looking at the pics of all these good-looking older folks reminds me of something. My husband and I and two friends went to a Tina Turner concert. We were up close, and Tina looked absolutely wonderful. Taut, flawless skin. Toned bod. Even her hands were gorgeous. I whispered to my female friend, “I sure hope we look that good when we get to be Tina’s age.” My friend shrugged and said “Hon, we have never looked that good in our whole lives. Why the heck would we look that good when we get to be Tina’s age?”
Sharon Stone is what, 48? 49? I’d still hit her any day of the week that ends with the letter Y.
If I weren’t married, which I am.
Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet on LOST, is 37 and, in my opinion, absolutely gorgeous.
Barbara Feldon’s still got it at 75.
