People who motivate me

You know, I’m not in horrible shape, but I’m not exactly Adonis either. But when I watch movies there are some actors who just motivate me to go work out in hopes of being as “good looking” as they are. For example, Marlon Brandow in A Streetcar Named Desire, or Vin Diesel.

Or when I hear about Donny Trump or Billy Gaites, I just want to go out and become a star investor and CEO.

Who motivates you?

Ian MacKaye (of Fugazi.) Listening to Fugazi or reading his interviews always make me want to get up of my ass and do something with my life.

I always feel motivated to get fit by watching Gymnasts at work (doesn’t matter who). They are at alll round elite physical fitness.

I used to get motivated watching Steven Seagal at work. Displaying that you don’t need to be in perfect shape to do impressive things to assailants. (but now I can’t think of him as anything other than an egotistical maker of sub-standard mindless action movies. Don’t get me wrong - I think some of his earlier movies are pretty good)

Seeing someone that is very out of shape and tired looking motivates me to work out so I don’t end up how they are.

I exercise at a nearby park/nature trail. Whenever I start to run out of juice, there’s almost always a pretty rollerblader or jogger nearby. And I can’t look like a wuss by dropping to a walk in front of a pretty girl, right? Hell, no.

The downside is I’m usually way, way off the 10% rule because of that. I need better willpower.

Sigh. I miss those younger days when the presence of females would quadruple my sporting efforts (alas not their effectiveness)

Pam Reed

A 42-year-old woman who has won the 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon twice. The race runs from the bottom of Death Valley to the top of Mount Whitney.

I’m not so young (30ish). And I doubt I’ll ever outgrow it.

Seriously, I can see myself in the park when I’m 90 trying handstands on my walker to impress senior citizen women…
