No, but it doesn’t matter. If I’m not allowed to turn to my seat neighbour here in the library and say, “You smell really offensive and you look like a squashed potato with shaving issues”, you’re not allowed to tell someone you’re going to knife him on a message board. It’s common courtesy and it’s not going to convince anyone to see your point of view.
White eyebrows make the baby Jesus cry.
Omegaman is the baby jesus? Now wonder he can’t type! He’s got nails through his hands!
Sorry but that comes roughly 30 years later
While I’m flattered and humbled, I think you are over-stating my good nature. While I do indeed wish Omegaman could control his anger, cut down on the machismo posting, and be generally more comprehensible, me believing in his potential is not the only reason I like having him around. I must admit I get a twisted enjoyment from watching his antics, and my Christian side likes the idea of having a “Jesus warrior” in our midsts. His actions of late have not shown much proficiency in such a calling, but there’s always hope. Lastly, I also sympathize with him because there was a period of time where I had the “we’d be better off without him” crowd haraunging me, and I know what it’s like to have your buttons pushed.
Nah, the main difference between Jesus and Omegaman is that Jesus eventually got off his cross.
He does? He takes copies of our rules and waves them around and calls attention to them? It’s a wonder, then, that he can’t follow them!
There goe’s Freddy, flouting English Grammer.
If there’s a ladle, ladle, ladle,
On the label, label, label,
You’ve got Auto, Auto, Auto,
On your table, table, table
Umm, sorry.
Well I know that . But around here skirting the rules is the really important thing it seems to me. Read through the thread that got me here. Quite a few times I was insulted by posters who just skirted around the rules just enough to make it by. They did so in GD. I did so here. I didn’t think there would be a problem. So I thought I would try it.I got called to the mat and I apoligized . No problem. I’m not going to open a thread about it as that didn’t work out very well at all. Be sure I don’t insult people in public because people don’t speak to me until I speak to them . I believe they are afraid. Or maybe repulsed. Potato potahto.
Would you like to cite the posts where you were personally insulted?
No need for that. Omegaman is correct that there were a fair number of on-the-line insults being hurled in that thread. (I was just about to post a Mod smackdown, but when I hit Preview before Submit looking for more recent posts, I found that Mike Buckner had already done exactly the same thing. When you can get the unsolicited attention of two Moderators at the same time, the rules are definitely being bent.)
On the other hand, I would disagree that Omegaman stood silently, braving the onslaught of uninvited vitriol. His initial tone already carried a certain hostility and he met every single “insult” with one of his own. I suspect that his posts are short because it is difficult to type with an eight foot long 12 X 12 chip on one’s shoulder. On the other hand, the posters who respond with hostility to what is, basically, nothing more than a silly style* and an odd attitude are not doing anything to improve the tenor of the board, either.
I don’t care what you do in the Pit, but in GD, I would appreciate less attitude from everyone.
- Arrogance delivered in an aggrieved tone; it just scans oddly.
Well thanks AT . I know my words can at times seem a little foolish here but be sure in real life I help everyone I can and treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Can I tell you a story ? It’s a good one. I was on vacation a month ago and I stopped by a Walgreens by my work to get a soda. I saw a pretty lady out front hiding behind a pillar and thought she might be a prostitute hiding from the police. (I work in a bad part of town). Any way I said "Hi " to her on the way in and while in the store I thought to myself OM. You IDIOT! You judged that lady bigger than daylight . I was dissappointed in myself. So on the way out I asked her if she was ok and if she needed a ride or money or anything and she told me she was waiting for a ride.I said o.k. and wished her a good day. So I drove to work about a block away. I went inside and got what I came for and as I exited I saw this same lady . She came up and said "do you work here? " I told her yes and who I was . She then introduced herself and told me it was her first day at work there. I was very surprised and then very glad I had spoken to her in a kind way. I hope this helps you to see although I let some of the children who taunt me here get the better of me in real life I conduct myself with honor and treat people with respect and not afraid to admit when I make a mistake especially when it involves hurting some one or thier feelings. I know I was an ass to you **AT ** before and I’m glad your the kind of man that can forgive and forget . You will achieve many great things in your life . I can smell it just like the smell of alkali in the desert . It’s a good smell .
I’m not smart enough to keep my mouth shut . I’ll learn if I can keep from getting banned.
As a matter of fact…
Spawn of Satan, tool of the man, keeping Omegaman down. Your narrow pagan ass just can’t handle his monster shits of righteousness.
How very diabolical, oh Piper.
And according to many religious folk that I know, that’s pretty much the plan. I have witnessed some interesting atheist liberals are not breeding due to the fact that they have no hope due to the lack of religion threads.
I thought “Go sit on a ladle” was pretty original myself.
Omegaman What you say and how you act represents Christianity to the people you are interacting with.
Tsk, tsk. How unfortunate for baby Jesus in that land and times. To spend your entire life with the Romans going “Someday we’re going to have to crucify that guy. He’s already got his own nails, just where we need them.”
