Perry Mason on HBO - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board
Thanks, for some reason that didn’t come up when I entered “Perry Mason”.
Old post, I know, but I just watched S1. The baby didn’t die of withdrawal, it died of an overdose. Heroin, morphine, and other opiates depress the respiratory system. An overdoes will stop your breathing. I think “suffocate” was not quite the right word.
I semi-binged season 2, timing it so that I could watch the last episode this week. I thoroughly enjoyed this season, perhaps more so than season 1. I thought the main plot line was better (and more believable) than the first season.
Looking forward to season 3, whenever that comes about.
I just “stumbled across” this thread and thought I’d comment on the HBO Perry Mason series. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1 & 2 and hope there will be a season 3.
There won’t be a third season; they cancelled the show after the second one aired.
Oh lovely. Well, I can have the consolation of trying to stay awake during another season of Grey’s Anatomy.
Just watched season 2 and really enjoyed it. Sorry to hear it was cancelled. Are there any other series, movies or books anyone recommends that are similar?
The Lincoln Lawyer is a series of novels by Michael Connelly. It’s been made into a movie as well as a Netflix series of two seasons. Highly recommended, at least by me!
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
I was recently in Los Angeles and made a point of riding the Angel’s Flight Railway, partly because I remember it from the first season of Perry Mason.
Just finished S2. I enjoyed it (especially the twist that PM’s two clients aren’t innocent; it was also fun to see Sean “Samwise” Astin as the grocery-store tycoon) and am sorry the show won’t be back for S3.
Two anachronisms: PM’s booking slate bears the date of May 20, 1933 as he begins his four-month sentence in the county jail. The Japanese record to which Camilla listens came out in 1935, however, and U.S. trade sanctions against Japan didn’t begin until 1938. Aw, what the hell. It’s all Generic Thirties anyway.
