I get notifications on my iPhone all the time. Rarely I’ll get one that persists for days. What’s up with that? I currently see an Amazon credit card offer every damn time I look at my phone. I’m at the point where I might get the card to shut off the notification.
My phone (not an Apple) chimes me at random times all day long. No texts, calls, nothing. I just ignore it now, and sometimes piss off Tommy when they actually do send me a message.
Pro Tip: Don’t Piss Off Tommy
To remove the notification from Notification Center, swipe the notification to the left and tap “Clear.”
Or are you asking why you are getting these notifications in the first place and what can you do about them?
Where is the notification coming from is the question. Is it from an email? A text message? Another App that has permission to send notifications (possibly Shop Amazon, Prime, or the like)? Fundamentally, I turn off App notifications from pretty much everything other than direct communications: texts, calls, emails. Nothing else has to tell me anything.
It’s from Amazon Business app. It’s the only notification I’ve ever received that didn’t just go away after I saw it. I swiped left and “cleared” it just now.
Just curious how/why the notification behaved so differently from every other notification. I want notifications from that app.
You’ve hit one of my/the big annoyances of apps.
You have an e.g. banking app and you want notifications about e.g. deposits, withdrawals, etc. But often the vendor takes that as permission to use the same notification facility to send you advertising. Some apps & the website behind them are honest enough to let you control which they send.
Some aren’t. I’d support the death penalty for the executive who decided that was acceptable business behavior.
Since I got a new phone a few weeks ago, it pesters me every day to look at old photos. I admit, it’s neat to see some of that stuff, which I won’t dredge up on my own. But it also wants to suggest I buy canvas prints or something. Not happening! And it’s pretty annoying to be interrupted by what I think is a text, only to find it’s an ad.
Google Pictures?
I think. I deleted the notification right away. No doubt there’ll be another soon.
If the Amazon Business app is like the regular Amazon app, press the hamburger menu at the bottom right, scroll down and tap “Settings,” then tap “Notifications,” then tap “Deals and recommendations,” and then tap “Turn off all.”
That should turn off the marketing notifications but leave the notifications you actually want still on.
The Samsung antivirus on my phone insists for some reason on rescanning certain apps every single time I open them and notifying me that they’re safe.
I’m not sure how many times my phone thinks I need to be reassured that Chrome, Amazon Music, and Gmail aren’t malware.
Every time they get updated there’s a new risk.
I would assume that any such offer is malware, not from the entity it purports to be. To find the actual source, select FORWARD. The new message will show the actual email address of the sender.
