Person crashes car into Madison IHOP

While we were at Applebees a car crashed into IHOP off East Washington. This was at about 8:00 PM I believe. The kid facing IHOP in a booth next to us saw it. He said “A car was racing and hit the IHOP mom.” When it was time to leave my ma had to turn in that direction instead of turning right onto the interstate. Bad choice ma. We got to stay on East Washington for about 10 minutes while they gathered evidence. The traffic was already stopped on East Washington before she even turned onto it. Argh!

Was the car smashed flat as a pancake?

The front of the vehicle and drivers side fit squarely in to the area where the vestibule and main wall made a corner. It didn’t go into the building and kill people.

Here is the police incident report.

I see that one of the vehicles was a pickup. There is no surprise on my part that the bastards were drunk. The car was the only vehicle I saw later when we tried to go home. They blocked off the road that they were racing down, so that they could take evidence.

The incident was a deadly drunk boyfriend chasing a deadly drunk girlfriend. They mention that 70 to 80 miles per hour were reached in the incident. Considering the area I don’t know how they didn’t have a mass murder occur. This particular case really exemplifies how dangerous drunk drivers can be, and their disregard for other human life. Do not feel sorry for the lady. She was driving drunk and decided to drive 70 to 80 mph while running red lights in a very busy area. The boyfriend was chasing her is dwarfed by the danger they both put everybody else in.

The boyfriend is a real piece of work. Here’s an excerpt of the article.

No, but they had to take a waitress to a battered woman’s shelter.

Oh No! This is just waffle.

So you are saying that a car grand slammed into the building?

For some reason that made me crack up. I instantly imagined two old “Unflappable Brit” stereotypes having a conversation in the car.

“I dare say we have now become airborne”
“Indeed it seems we have”
“What is that we are passing above, a Cadillac perhaps?”
“No, I do believe it is a Buick… Yes I am quite confident it is a Buick we are passing above.”
“I fear we may not completely pass above the next car”
“I must agree, I seems we shall alight upon the hood, dreadfully embarrasing really”

Well it made me giggle.
