I work in the office building next door to a restaurant. Our windows were open because it’s nice. We didn’t see the crash, but we sure as hell heard it. If there are no dead people inside, it’s a miracle. Ambulances, cops, fire trucks, everything is outside. The truck was coming down a steep hill and now it’s buried in the building. A passersby said it looked like he lost brakes, but he may have passed out.
I just walked outside to look and my hands are shaking. Never been this close to a legitimate tragedy before. If he’d crashed into my building, I’d be a fuckin’ grease spot right now. The people who were eating dinner and the waitstaff are probably fuckin’ grease spots right now.
It happened right before rush so I’m sure traffic’s going to be an issue. Not that that is important. I heard it was full of diners and one was a pregnant woman. I don’t know how my coworker found that out, maybe he went out and saw someone being carried out. I don’t even know how they’re going to get to the people inside because the front door, windows, and whole facade are caved in
DAMN that news cycle is fucking fast. Thanks for the link MsWhatsit. I did not want to take pictures because it seems unseemly. I am glad to know that they were able to reach the wounded quickly
You can’t see it well in that picture, but there are apartments above the truck and a whole corner of them is crumbling down. You can kinda see the rooms
