Before switching to my UW email address for good, I mainly used my Hotmail address as my email address. Often, while using that service, I noticed ads that said things like “mortgages hit an all-time low”. These ads often showed jiggling, animated female bodies. But often enough, there were jiggling, animated extraterrestrial bodies. Neither type of animated body was attractive. Never could I figure out why jiggling aliens were being placed in a mortgage advertisement.
Recently, I’ve noticed ads that say things like “moms go back to school”. These ads also show animated bodies moving back and forth. They often seem silhouetted. These bodies aren’t generally attractive either, so it doesn’t seem like the advertisers are attempting to draw me in with seductive female bodies.
I’ve seen this sort of stuff for years, but can’t quite get it. What’s going on here? What is the relationship between personal finance and animated bodies?
