The article is a fairly good summary of the current legal brothel situation in Nevada, should you be interested in that sort of thing.
Unbelievable! They are worried that the brothel money is somehow “tainted” compared to the money from casinos? Unlike casinos, you go to a legal brothel, you get what you are paying for.
It’s an interesting story. The state sounds crazy, but I can almost see their point. Deeply religious people might have a serious problem with driving on roads paid for by sex. And the brothels WANT to pay taxes! I can see why both sides might be happy with the status quo.
But these same people don’t have a problem with roads paid for with money from gambling, alcohol or tobacco? A well-run brothel does one hell of a lot less harm than those three and provides a useful service. The harsh truth is some folks just cannot get sex any other way.
I knew a guy, a really nice guy, who had been in a fire. His face was very burned and he was missing an arm. The entirety of his sex life was with prostitutes. If he hadn’t been a nice guy, he could have lied and made up a bullshit story about having been a fireman and gotten burned saving the lives of a half dozen children, and maybe scored a pity fuck.
The problem with those is that pity is a pretty unpleasant thing to deal with. Better to save his money up and get sex from a professional.
Money is money. It’s neutral. And this is just another example of whackjobs letting religion get in the way of reality.
So they’re finding it kinda difficult to take the high road when, in all actuality, there’s only one.
