Last week, we had to put our beloved cat Sydney down. She had been ill basically since we got her, starting with hyperthyroidism and developing chronic kidney failure and likely diffuse lymphoma. We had spent a considerable amount of money for various treatments, including irradiated iodine, in attempts to make her healthy as possible and comfortable. But eventually the end came.
My 95 year old mother was very distraught over the loss and I knew we would adopt another cat, so off to the Super Cat Adoption Day we went, and came home with Mikko (sorry for the poor quality pic). [Side note: He had the same name as the first cat my mother had when she was a kid - must be Destiny!] He’s a ball of energy and finally we have a cat that plays with all the toys ignored by the two previous cats.
Because of the money we spent on Sydney, I am now wondering about pet insurance. What have been your experiences using pet insurance - cost, ease of use, restrictions? If you’ve used it in the past, but no longer use it, why? If you don’t use it, why not? Thanks for any responses!
