Pet Peeve: Control Freaks

Exsqueeze me? Baking powder?

Since when is it “generally accepted as a norm” that people don’t wear black in warm weather. Or where? I’ve never heard of such a thing. And if it were true, why do they make short-sleeved shirts in black?

(Yes, I know about black retaining heat if you’re actually out in the sun, but I’ve never heard that that should affect general wardrobe choices.)

You can have my black when you take it from my cold dead hands.

What kind of jerks do you work with and how on earth do they remember what clothes you wore six weeks ago? It sounds like your co-workers are a bunch of bored third graders. I wouldn’t consider it a moral issue, though. More of a working-with-asshats issue.

Oh hells bells, I live in Baton Rouge, about the second to last fly button of the Devil’s crotch as far as Hell’s heat and humidity goes, and I’m wearing black tights right now. If anyone wants to tell me what they think I should be wearing at work, then, if they are very lucky, they are going to get a blank quizzical look, like, “Wow, are you really being so rude as to comment on someone else’s appearance?” If they push it, I’ll say that to them directly.

I’m still waiting to hear what learning silvermist has had!

Your coworkers are jerks and seriously need to create some drama in their lives if they are talking about your stupid black blouse six weeks later. I am wearing a black blouse AND a black and white skirt today; I’d be shocked if anyone said anything. And if they did the most they might say is “A black shirt, aren’t you hot?” and I’d say, “Nope” and that’d be the end of it.

I really wish you would check with me before making a post here. I could help you touch it up so well. Really, I’m just trying to help.

lisacurl, that was a great description.

I laughed.

No, the government just can’t make you put the guy up for the night. If you want to put the guy up out of the goodness of your heart, you are well within your legal rights to do so. Carry on with the fantasy.

As for the OP, people like that get on my nerves as well. My choice, shut up. Don’t mother hen me. I don’t let my parents go into big long lectures about my life and choices, I’m certainly not going to listen to the dork at work.

And it’s a shirt! who carries on about a shirt for 6 weeks?
