Peter Parker, Spectacular Sports-Man

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Spidey, Firestar, and Iceman.

So, they worked out of Peter’s apartment, right? I mean, perhaps they all lived there, but I don’t recall that specifically.

To convert the apartment into crime-lab mode, one of the team would move a small golden football-trophy. Then everything would flip, and reveal the computers.

So Peter Parker has a football trophy? Not that Spidey couldn’t do well on the gridiron, but it’s just not puny Parker’s style.

What’s the deal?

I recall them all living there, together.

That said, it could just as easily have been Bobby’s football trophy - or Angelica’s, I suppose.

They obviously are squatting in one of Tony Stark’s many bachelor pads and he just hasn’t caught on yet.

I agree, either that or Iceman’s borrowing some gear from Professor X. If you had that kind of scratch, would you be kissing J.J. Jameson’s ass in that crappy photog gig?

Now we know who bought OJ’s Heisman.

(yes I know the show was decades before the trial. shut up)

In humor there is truth.

See, in the fifth episode of the third season of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends we see how the “Spider Friends”(bleh) got together and that their crime fighting equipment was provided by Tony Stark.

I never thought of Bobby Drake as a champion football player, either. Of course, if he ever pulled a muscle, he could put ice on the injury without leaving the field…

I suppose the true origin of the trophy will remain shrouded in mystery…

Oh, so you’re saying that Angelica couldn’t have played football? You chauvanist!

Actually, the trophy was Ms. Lion’s.

No, but if I start thinking about Angelica in a locker room, changing after a football game, my head will spontaneously explode.
Aww, man. I got brain-goo on my monitor.

That wasn’t brain-goo.

I bet the tenants downstairs wondered why there was a couch/supercomputer on their ceiling.

Dang. I wonder if I saw that one and remembered it? But back then I wasn’t familiar with who Tony Stark was so I don’t know why that would have stuck.

I do have to say, I loved Firestar and was very happy when she eventually became an Avenger.

I loved that show. Maybe it comes from being an only child, but I thought it would be cool to have two roommates with whom I could have adventures. You know, “fight crime” & stuff.

And Angelica Jones was very cool on TV. The comic version is OK, but much more shy & nervous, you notice?

She’s like 8-10 years younger in the comics, isn’t she?
