Peter Weller Is Alright *clapclapclap*

I gotta admit, I like Peter Weller. Why? I dunno. It it because he makes great movies? Let’s take a look, shall we?

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
Robocop
Shakedown
Leviathon
Robocop 2
Naked Lunch
Screamers
and a whole wad more.

So that would be “No. Not because he makes great movies.”

I really liked Screamers. Really good bad SF. It was a book first. A short story anyway, by Philip K. Dick, so you know it’s good. And the movie was Canadian. When was the last time Canada gave the World something unpleasant?

I also tend to like Rutger Haurer and Christopher Lambert movies.

Do you think they could all team up and remake Plan 9 From Outer Space? That would be so cool.
-Rue.

Actually I like Rutger Hauer movies.

Just so you know I know.

Oh, and I can’t forget the amazing work he did with Robert Hayes. 50/50.

Yup, Pete’s got the stuff.

Okay, just so this doesn’t sink into total post obscurity.

Not on the Peter Weller subject, since I’m not real familiar with him, but I can comment on the Rutger Hauer bit.

I’m generally NOT a fan of his work. It’s typically not the type of movie to blow my skirt up.

But it was late, the cable was free, and a movie came on with him in it. I think it was called Lockdown or something like that.

He was in a futuristic prison which paired him up with a partner (natch it was an attractive lady), and if one ever escaped, they’d both blow up.

I have to say, I enjoyed myself watching that movie.

So I’d have to say he’s not all bad.
And since you’re giving props to Weller, I might just need to check him out on your advice…

Love Peter Weller and he will always be Buckaroo Banzai in my eyes. I so wanted to be a Hong Kong Cavalier and walk with them in the last scene.

Scout1222, I believe the name of the movie you’re talking about is “Deadlock”. Rutger Hauer and Mimi Rogers are paired with exploding neckgear and Joan Chen plays a bad guy role. I liked this movie as well.

Ooh, Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen in another movie together? I Loved The Blood of Heroes.

Dammit, I misread the title & thought this was gonna be a PAUL Weller appreciation thread!!!

Oh, well. Peter Weller is OK. Buckeroo Banzai is a fun movie.

As long as Dolph Lundgren and Julian Sands get cast as well. That would RAWK!

Maybe we should start a Good Actors Who are Consistantly Cast in Bad Movies thread.
[sub] But then I’d have to leave Dolph out.[/sub]

I could sort of take or leave most of the above, but boy, Buckaroo Banzai was swell, as was Naked Lunch. Clap clap. Heath, just to make you feel better, I am as big of a geek as you are. I had a very similar visual fantasy about actually being a cool, handsome, talented, useful genius walking around in ridiculous clothing with theme music.

I’ve read two volumes of Philip K. Dick short stories (and enjoyed them tremendously). Which story is Screamers based on, Rue? (Or anyone.)

Resurrecting my old sig for Rue:

“Modern women. They’ve been like that all down through the ages.”
-Plan 9 from Outer Space (1958)
