I guess if golfers can’t stand up and balls won’t stay still, there’s no point. It was really windy.
They’ve got about three hours of golf today. I think it is good that they decided to stop after they finish the second round.

Tiger shoots +7, misses cut. My heart bleeds…
It’s painful watching Spieth miss those putts, but DJ is en fuego. Should be exciting!
So, tomorrow will be Round 3 and Round 4 will be played on Monday. Remember, playoffs for the British Open are best of 4 holes (not a full round as in the US Open), and then sudden death after that (if still tied).
Yeah, you watch him on the range striping one shot after another, and then on the course flubbing one shot after another, and it’s obvious that his problems are mostly mental.
And the guys who take such glee in his struggles deserve all the respect you would give to anyone else who makes fun of people with mental problems.
On another note, I’ve never liked DJ, but now I’m rooting for him, after the R&A cost him at least two strokes today by making him play under conditions they deemed too severe for other groups. I’ve never seen anything like that in over 50 years of watching golf.
Thought he was pretty cool in the interview after - said didn’t really understand why they called it, b/c it was blowing the same as when they sent them out!
And Spieth is making a run!!
I’m petty neutral on DJ, but I do remember when he burst on the scene. I was down at the AT&T (I go every year), and we were all looking at each other says: Dustin who???
I can’t help but rooting for Spieth, just to see him continue his sweep. But, I’d also love to see Jason Day finally win his first major.
And look at Dunne, the amateur, now in the lead!!
As I type this, DJ just made his first birdie today.
Great leaderboard going into final round.
Spieth going for three in a row. Day trying to shake the Major Monkey and an amateur that no one has ever heard of is Tied for the lead.
also some nearly forgotten major winners (Oosty and Paddy).
Surprised Dustin had a very poor round today.
Spieth is having an outstanding season, could win the first three majors. Would that put him in your all time top 10? He is probably going to win Vardon and the Money List.
Yes, it would. Before you laugh, remember I’m talking about who plays the best golf over a season or two, not who has the best career. If Spieth wins tomorrow, he will be only the second man in history to win three consecutive pro majors – at least since the 1880’s, when the only existing major had the field strength of a modern club championship.
But it’s pretty clear that barring illness, injury, or loss of interest, he’s going to destroy the record books. For one thing, even an average round tomorrow will put him around $9 million in official earnings with half a dozen very rich events yet to play, so he’s a cinch to break the record for season earnings, currently held by guess who?
Wrong, it’s Vijay, all the way back in 2004. So while it’s probably inevitable that inflation will eventually make $10 mill seasons common, it still takes a lot to break the all-time record, because Tiger had some great years after 2004 without doing it.
I knew it was VJ.
Money records are (and always have been) irrelevant in my opinion. Over a hundred players each earn more money than Sam Snead (and his 82 wins) won in a career. I don’t pay attention to it.
Since 2007 the real currency on the PGATour is FE points, and for the last 5 or 6 years, it has not been tweaked (at least the regular season has not been tweaked). And there is no inflation to skew the totals. Tiger hold the regular season record at 4000,pts and Spieth is going to demolish that. (Yes, he is going to play more tournaments)
Although it doesn’t make much difference in Spieth’s case, the regular season was tweaked quite a bit in 2013, by making it start 3 months earlier.
Three months makes it sound like 12-13 tournaments. When in fact it was only 6 tournaments in 2013-14 and 7 tournaments (in six different weeks) this season.
Christ, just admit you were wrong. Three months is accurate, no matter what it “sounds like” to you, and six events is a very significant increase, when 15 events is considered a full season.
Since you made me go to the trouble of posting, I’ll add that you were also wrong about money records never having been relevant. Before the world rankings were established, the money list was closely followed by players and fans alike. It’s not as important today, but used with some intelligence, it’s still a pretty good indicator of who’s having a good year.
I said money records are irrelevant, not the money list. You were citing VJ’s record. As good as it is, it will be passed eventually. Because of inflation.
Yes, I agree that the money list leader in any individual year is indicative of a great season.
But if Spieth wins $10 Million this year, was it better than Singh’s year in 2004? As a money achievement, no. But probably more memorable than Singh’s because of the Masters and US Open.
And jeez, Tiger fans sure are short tempered these days. Any little thing will set them off.
Thanks for the insight about inflation, because I had almost forgotten what I said about three hours ago. That aside, all records are eventually broken, even Bob Beamon’s, because improved coaching, nutrition, equipment, etc. makes it just as inevitable as inflation. That doesn’t make them irrelevant. I’ll never forget 714, but I’ve already forgotten however many homers Bonds has.
Nice try, but your stupid opinions in this instance were about Jordan and Vijay, two golfers whose skills I admire, but are far from favorites of mine. But you’re right, I shouldn’t be so surprised to find stupid opinions on message boards.
Thank you for being flippant while you take my post about the money records out of context.
I appreciate it.
The irony, it burns.
Maybe you two guys should get a room…
Anyway, I wish I didn’t have so much work to do today. Fortunately, I’ll be doing a lot of it home, so I’ll have the telly on, as they say in Jolly 'Ol… The field does look great, with only Rory missing. This must be killing him. I’m a huge Spieth fan, but he’s going to have a lot of competition from RM, and it’s a shame the latter is not there to defend.
Holy cow, this is turning into one of the most exciting final days in a major in quite some time. I’m still pulling for Speith.
