I’ve not read the book in some time, but I recall that at the Masquerade, it was said that while the Phantom dressed as the Red Death, Christine and Raoul dressed as “dominoes.”
I’m assuming they were not dressed as little white rectangles with dots on the ends. If not this, though, then what?
My thanks to whomever can answer this.

A domino is a pretty generic kind of masquerade costume consisting of a hooded cape and a half-mask. Imagine a simplified Zorro costume and you won’t be far off.
The cloak.

A domino is a kind of hood worn by the canons of a cathedral church. Later the name was given to a mourning-veil for women and later still to half-masks worn by women when travelling or at a masquerade, for disguise. A domino was a masquerade-dress worn for disguise by ladies and gentlemen, and consisting of an ample cloak or mantle with wide sleeves and a hood removable at pleasure. It was usually made of black silk, but sometimes of other colours and materials.
And there’s an illustration.
The mask.

All the participants at a masquerade had to be masked and in disguise [2]. Perhaps the most frequent sight at a masquerade was the “domino” costume [3]. Venetian in origin [4], this disguise was very simple; it was comprised of a dark loose cloak that enveloped the body accompanied by a mask. Sometimes the mask was accompanied by a hood called a “bahoo” [5]. These costumes were usually black, but occasionally varied to white and blue [6]. The domino costume represented intrigue, adventure, conspiracy and mystery, four elements that were a distinct part of the masquerade atmosphere. The Domino costume was also often worn by both sexes [7].
