Phil Henry show how long did it take you? Errr.. possible spoiler

I stumbled across this guy by accident and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I think it’s called the Phil Henry show.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about cruise the AM dial in the early evening hours, you’ll know when you find it.

It took me about and hour to realize what was going on.
How long did it take you to figure it out?

I think that it’s Hendry. It took me about 10 minutes but then I was a DJ in college and a friend of mine and I did something similar for a couple of years.

It’s Hen-dry . . it took me about 10 minutes . . but I didn’t realize who was doing all the phone calls until a couple listens. Before, I thought he had a ensemble.

The show is funny as shit . . especially when you understand what is going on and how hard he works to keep it going!

That’s Phil Hendrie, with the -ie, not the ‘y’. In Los Angeles, his show is on KFI 640 AM, from 7-10 PM every weekday.

I’ve been a -huge- fan of his for the past few years, before he got syndicated nationally. To anyone who hasn’t heard this show, I urge all of you to check your local stations to see if and when he’s on in your area.

He’s a man doing an interesting, original, and very compelling show. And that’s just great.

There’s also an E-Group on Yahoo somewhere (formerly on Egroups.com), but I don’t have the URL right offhand.

My favorite guest is RC Collins.

Ah, Phil… the greatest genius on talk radio. I think it probably took me about half an hour to realize that he was the master behind all the voices, but that’s probably because I wasn’t listening very carefully (I see the radio as something to make a car ride not-so-silent).

My absolute favorite was when he was trying to force his multiple personalities to admit that he had created them…

And, sorry Ash, but I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for Bud Dickman.

…but that was because of the seriousness of the topic being discussed. Some guy calling about his grandfather having been shot in a hunting accident, and he was convinced that he the grandson couldn’t have done it, even though the angles were right and they were alone.

That brings me to the people who call in and respond to Phil’s wacko’s: Are they real? Because if they’re part of the gag too, then they are very, very good. I listened to a clip called “Bobbie craps in her pants”, and the person calling in sounded genuinely upset that Bobbie Dooley would take a dump in someone’s house all over expensive furnishings instead of in the bathroom. (This was ostensibly while she was house-sitting. Before the clip ended “Bobbie” revealed she had picked the lock of the house.)

If these people are real, then I am surprised they are still calling the show. I mean they can’t all be in the dark about Phil’s characters, can they?

Thanks

Quasi

I imagine that Phil has a never-ending supply of rubes calling in. Or, conversely, some people call in but agree to “play along”…

It took me about half an hour. I think he’s hilarious.

I’ve wondered about the callers, too. Some of them are obviously playing along, & doing a brilliant job of it. Sometimes though a caller sounds so righteously indignant that I really wonder if they don’t get it.

He actually made me a fan of AM radio. I love that guy. Took me about 20 minutes to figure it out. The station I listen to him on here in tampa also broadcasts the devil rays games so The often dont play his show in favor of stupid basebal :frowning:

Seems like the average is half the time it took me.

The topic that day was why Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman broke up and if Tom was gay. It seemed reasonable for a while. If it had been another topic like the guy that yelled fire in a crowded theater, or why only L.A. residents can be Lakers fans I may have caught on faster.

I think some of the callers are either “real” or professional actors. They get so worked up and don’t seem to stumble like the featured guest.

SPOOFE, I’m in agreement with the latter . . listening to some of the bits, ther is NO NWAY anyone can be that much of a mark!

Y’know, the first time I listened to Phil Hendrie, he was talking with a guy who would go to the Pound to pick up a pet, then drive onto the highway and throw the animal into traffic, then he’d turn around and see if he caused any accidents. If he did, he’d take pictures of it.

So many people were pissed off at this guy… and the worst part is that the “guest” didn’t sound all that unrealistic (horrible, deplorable, and sick, yes… but not unrealistic).

But, yeah, some segments are just so effing outrageous that you’d have to be a Serlin to not get it.
