All right, I had a great time meeting Dopers in both Houston and Atlanta. Now it looks like we have a strong enough Arizona contingent to have a gathering here (Metro-Phoenix, I mean). Any of y’all interested? I know of three other Phoenix Dopers but want to see if I can get even more attendees than that. Let me know if you’re interested, either here or through email, and we’ll make our plans. Oh, and any Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, Ajo, etc. Dopers who don’t mind making the trip to Phoenix are welcome to join us as well.
I’m in.

Strainger, after all we have had together I thought Atlanta meant more to you than that.
I am truly hurt. Do not call and ask to go out again.
I am just kidding I did not even show up for the Atlanta meeting.
Maybe we should call this the Strainger Doper tour.

FYI for y’all…I’ll be in Phoenix in March. Care to have Phoenix Dopers, round two then? grin
“You are sweet, kind, and considerate… Like a grown up boy scout with tits!” - Brian, aka SDMB’s one and only Satan.
We’ll be sure to reconvene in March when you’re here, Falcon. It’ll be good to meet you!
“Well, walk it off! And next time, stretch before you ovulate.” – Al Bundy
well, as we’ve been talking about this for about 6 wks, ya know i’ll be there! we were kinda hoping we could coax any lurkers out of the woodwork.
remember, this is your chance to meet strainger, the sdmb national embassador of goodwill!
Stay with me folks, I’m certain I’m driving towards a conclusion here, but I refuse to stop and ask for directions.

But Phoenix is so HOT!
damn right it’s hot! but only in the summer. why do you suppose all those northerners come here in the winter? 75 deg. every day is pretty sweet.
falcon, we can compare tattoos!
The purpose of life is to matter, to count, to have it make a difference you lived at all.
Phoenix is nice in March, it won’t be too hot.
“Popeye? Hm? He’s not much of a judge of women!” King Blozo
Folks, don’t let the Arizonans fool you. Phoenix is HOT from March, all the way through November. (above 80 degrees every day) And even in “winter” there are days where it’s above 80.
Adam…dreaming of that winter wonderland known as Michigan.
“Life is hard…but God is good”
I think we have a different definition of hot. Hot is when they close Sky Harbor airport because the takeoff charts for the planes don’t go up to 120º
March is a really nice time to visit Phoenix. That’s about the time they have the renaissance festival in Apache Junction East of Phoenix.
“You’re all lollygagging around like it’s 120 degrees in the shade. Shoot, Couldn’t be more than 114.” Foreman Lyle
Quite right. I’d say above 85 degrees is hell. And I’m sure we have a different definition of cold too. I’ve noticed that many Phoenecians were coats, and jackets here in “winter.” I think to myself, “Now why would they do a silly thing like that, it’s a balmy 55 degrees!”
“Life is hard…but God is good”
Shoot. That should be “wear” coats, not “were” coats. Don’t you always notice the typo, after you hit the submit button?
i think you’re absolutely right, adam. it is way too hot here in winter. now, if we could only convince all the snowbirds of that . . .
but think what a great experience this is for you: when you prostelyze you can recommend phx to everyone who doesn’t really believe there is a hell!
now, you want hot, why how well i remember that summer of, what was it, padeye, 122 degrees? yep, we had tourists melting into little puddles on the streets. heatstroke from looking out the window. grounded the planes from yuma to tucson, flagstaff to tombstone. the chickens could hardly keep up there were so many eggs cooked on the sidewalks.
& the ren festival! considered one of the top 2 or 3 in the country. & february has the tempe art festival, also a winner. too bad you’ll be staying at home & missing the fun, adam.
Fortunately, the 122 degree temperature occured the summer before I moved out here.
Adam hasn’t told us yet whether he’ll be there or not. You in, Adam? I think we’re going to do Coffee Plantation on Mill Ave.
I remember that summer but I was in Tucson where it was a chilly 114º.
I’m a Tucson homeboy but I’ve lived where it really gets cold so I have a basis for comparison. During a three day period in northern Montana it never got above -40º. The toilet bowl froze over in the decrepit apartment I lived in and I was lucky that no pipes burst. I’ve since lost my thick Montana blood and don’t know if I could stand the real cold.
“Popeye? Hm? He’s not much of a judge of women!” King Blozo
oh, what i wouldn’t give for 114 deg. i have to keep the heater on under my desk, even in the summer.
All right Phoenicians, email or weigh in here and let me know what night would be good for you. I’ll be emailing the 2 or 3 of you individually if I don’t hear from you. (Lurkers, this is your last chance!)
i’m in. pick a date/time. the biltmore coffee plantation is more central to all of us, but i think people watching is better on mill. padeye?
Where’s the Biltmore Coffee Plantation?
