Phyllis Schlafly dead at 92 - Does anybody care?

So did Bonnie Parker and John Wayne Gacy.

A co-worker just noted “God never seems to take away a Gene Wilder, without also relieving us of a Phyllis Schlafly.”

BTW, she had nothing to do with the fine Schlafly beer products from the St Louis Brewery. I think Tom was always embarrassed by her. So don’t let the name deter you from enjoying a Schlafly beer.

Anita Bryant

And don’t ask how I pulled that name out of my ass. I’m going to go stick it back now where it belongs.

(or possibly feminist and homophobe Betty Friedan.)

Her tombstone should read “Mrs. John Schlafly”.

She would probably agree with you.

I won’t celebrate her death, but I’m not going to mourn her either.

Her name came to my mind, too, but Bryant is still alive.

Tammy Faye Bakker (to use the most famous version of her name) died in 2007. Jeanne Kirkpatrick died in 2006. Either might be who Shoeless is thinking of.

That’s actually a terrible biography.

It’s Conservapedia, everything is terrible, some by design and some became it’s actually written by Trumpists and Tea Partiers.

Is it true that without Schlafly, the ERA almost certainly would have passed, or is that something that is blown out of proportion (by the conservatives trying to lionize Schlafly or the liberals trying to attack her?)
Incidentally, I always thought that the “I’d like to burn you at the stake” comment made by someone (can’t remember who) against Schlafly was pretty vicious and the epitome of a counterproductive comment - no matter what you may think of Schlafly.

Anita is still alive.

Betty did shuffle off this mortal coil in 2006.

As far as

:eek:

:eek::eek::eek:

May I suggest a drawer instead?

:eek::eek::eek:

Well, before she jumped onto the anti-ERA rant, there had been 30 states which had passed the amendment, out of 38 needed. After her campaign, only three more states passed it and it failed to reach the number needed.

I’ll just go and move this to the Pit.

One has to wonder if I said the same about any possible future demise of Hillary (due to her pants on fire most likely) that I would get such a local thats okay, you think/feel what you think/feel such a vibe…

“There will be a woman president over my dead body.”

Okay then, have it your way.

Apparently she never said that. Had no idea.

If Hillary starts saying things that are hurtful, hateful & just plan mean about whole groups of people who only crime is to not measure up to her world view, than maybe. Check back in 22years.

Meh, I’m pretty much indifferent. She was a total hosebeast, but she was also 92 and pretty much long past expiration date even before that.

Who…? Oh well.
