Pick a mutant ability, any mutant ability...

I would want Shadowcat’s ability to phase. Think about it. The only other mutant who could ever hurt you would be Professor X, and he’s a good guy. You’d be comepletely invulnerable.

Superhuman speed would be nice, I could then get all that mundane work out of the way so I could spend more quality time with Lola and the kids.

I could step out the door and run to work in less than a minute, wouldn’t need to burn any gas or fight traffic then.

The mountains of paperwork I have to do would be a thing of the past.

Of course, at some point I might get bored with all the extra time I had and turn evil or something. I should be careful what I wish for…

The best, I think, would be Fortune’s (from a short story, can’t remember his name for sure). He perceived reality as a sheaf of all possible universes and could pick the one he wanted to be real–even retroactively. He could even bring back the dead, by choosing a reality in which they hadn’t died. He didn’t last long, of course–way too imbalancing for plots.

From the abilities of the regulars, I’d take Wolverine’s healing factor–hard to find anything more practical than that, and it’s already prohibitively expensive for me to get drunk.

Huh…

I’d like to be a shape-shifter the most, so I’d borrow Mystique’s power.

Jean Grey and Rachel Summers had some exciting powers as Phoenix, but those weren’t exactly the result of her being a mutant.

Another useful little power that might be useful: Cypher’s ability to read any language.

Well, lessee, I’d want to have a Charisma of 20 and a Strength of at least 18. I’d be an Elf-Cleric named Galadriel and my alignment would be neutral-good…

Oh, wait, wrong game. I’d want to be able to fly. Definitely flight.

Well, as for existing characters, I think Mystiques shape shifting ability would be cool. Could seriously mess with people that way and get enemies into deep shit LOL. Also, Wolverine’s healing powers would be cool, combined with Jean Grey’s telekenesis.

But since I dont read the comics, i dont know if the following power exists in any of the X-men characters, but i’d like to be able to control and spontaneously create fire, (at any temperature, from normal flame to several thousand degrees) at will. Talk about a formidable weapon if you could create fire in any shape (rings, balls, tongues, columns, etc) to intimidate people.

Molecule Man - Absolute control over molecules. Most powerful hero/villan even if he doesn’t realize it. This guy can move mountain ranges around.

Rusty Collins can create and manipulate fire. Pyro can manipulate it, but needs a source. People sometimes mix them up.

Damn! Osip beat me to bringing up Longshot. The pure motive adendum wouldn’t bother me (you’d have to use your ability for the greater good after all). Alternatively you could take Scarlet Witches hex thing but that’s more conscious.

I’d also like Kitty’s phasing. Logan’s healing factor would be cool too. We ARE assuming we also get the inherent agility too aren’t we?

But probably the most powerful would be Magneto’s manipulation of magnetic fields. Outside of Phoenix, Charles and Eric are probably the two most powerful people on the Marvel planet. On can just shut down your brain the other can stop the iron in your blood with just a thought. The latter can also fly at his peak. The former can read minds.

Hmmm…

Give me Longshot’s luck anyday.

I think I’d want the Nate Grey/Cable telekenisis-telepathy combo, only without the limitations imposed on each of them to make their characters more interesting. Or Franklin Richards.

I won’t even address you poor deluded folk who aren’t choosing actual mutants. Jeez, ya might as well pick the Beyonder and be done with it.
