Ever consider CO2 fertilization?
Water seems cloudy.
I’m an asshole about aquariums.
water in which seems cloudy?
No, I refuse to set up a CO2 system.
the 55g is cloudy because I stole it’s filter to power the 75g and stirred up a shit load of stuff while rearranging it today, a new canister filter is on order, as well as reducing the bioload by removing the crayfish and pacu. It’s currently being filtered by a pair of less-than-desirable power filters.
the 75g is cloudy because it’s going through its first cycle
Did the concrete do anything to your pH? That is the most substantial caves I’ve ever seen.
I used flower pots for some plecos.
Nice pictures.
I know nothing about tanks or exotic fish,so I wondered if the shark eats other fish, how big he gets, and what you feed him.
The water is already very alkaline, so it’s not been affected by it. Florida hardwater at it’s best - fresh from the limestone acquifer.
Pacu can’t use flower pots, as they shatter them then try to eat the shards, thus killing them… no bueno.
This is a serious fish, she’s bitten me and drawn blood while I was inspecting fin damage on her playmate, she’s thrown a crayfish into the glass so hard(not smashed it into, the cray LEFT Pacu’s mouth before hitting the glass) that the cray’s exoskeleton broke and it died, this pacu has even dragged the little stadium you see there clear across the tank thereby lifing the air pump attached to it 6" off the table.
Serious fish need serious caves.
It’s not a shark, per se. It’s just a regular fish that’s named a type of shark due to its appearance.
The Bala Shark, IIRC can be 9-14 inches, but this one hasn’t grown a bit since May, I believe it’s a dud, which is good.
Rainbow Sharks get to 6", tho I believe most stay around 4", which is that one’s size.
They both eat flake food, algae, and plant nippings.
We had 110g fresh tank for many years. We had two Pacus. One was about 18 inches long and the other was 16 inches. I finally got fed up with them because they would drag all the tubing and filter lines out, thereby keeping the tank fouled. They would also get up a good head of steam and slosh water out of the tank. (yes, we had a lid on the tank and they sloshed water) Damn fish are a menace.
I finally dragged them out of the tank and took them to the local fish store that will do an in-store trade.
I have a 72 oak bow front. The tnak itself is so gorgous, the fish barely matter.
I’m keeping a clown and two damsels in it right now. I keep meaning to get more, but stuff always comes up.
I’m thinking either a yellow or blue tang.
and as soon as I start getting some green algae, I’m getting another sea urchin.
I love the pics. Tank photography can be quite difficult.
