I’m reading the Good Housekeeping Cook Book, an edition printed in June 1956. In the Shortcuts to Save Cleaning section, it recommends “Use pie tape on fruit pies–and you’ll have less oven cleaning.” I found a page that explained what pie tape is, but I wonder: does anyone here remember it, or have you ever have used it? Is it even available anymore?
Nope, never seen it. Mom used to simply place the fruit pie on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (as I do now). It didn’t stop the pie from overflowing, but it made clean up much easier!
