Pill question

My best friend found a baggie full of pills in her husband’s closet and I was wondering if anyone here might be familiar with them.
They are round, white and scored in the middle. On one side there’s a 10 and on the other it says DAN 5730.

We are hoping it’s nothing but some sort of generic aspirin, but since he’s been acting very odd lately and things are starting to disappear from their home, we are expecting something not so mild.

Hope I’m not breaking any rules here. The pills are about to be destroyed regardless of what they are…we’d just like our curiosity satisfied.

Drugs.com has a pill identification wizard that may be useful (link is to the results of a search I did - but I don’t know if any of them are what she found).

That link’s likely not going to work - try this one to run through the wizard yourself.

A possibility:

Thanks Lsura, I tried that one but nothing came up with those specific imprints. Lots of white tablets with DAN, but nothing telling.

I discovered what it is. I won’t say because it’s simply none of your business, but I will say it’s not a controlled substance. If your friend is concerned about his behavior, perhaps she should talk to him about it.

Well thank you for your kind words Chief. It happens to be my friend’s business, considering she’s had to deal with her husband’s bouts with drug addiction for the past fifteen years. She has a lot at stake and she’d like to know if she’s in for another round of three day failed rehabs, methodone clinics, faked home break-ins, and the man she loves possibly overdosing on a drug she can’t identify for the paramedics.
The problem is he WONT talk to her.

In retrospect, I apologize. I’m an alcoholic and a bit of a pill head myself and upon reading your story my “addict defense mechanism” kicked in, I guess. I didn’t know the whole story and since you’ve put it that way I understand where you’re coming from. Sorry again.

Imprint Code: 10 / DAN5730
Drug/Strength/Manufacturer: Baclofen 10mg - Heartland
Description: Dan 5730 - Tablet

FWIW it’s a muscle relaxer. Understandable, then, why they would be hidden.

Ummm … not to pry but why has this friend of yours stayed with him for 15 years? I’d be out the door, doubly faster if kids were involved.

If your friend’s husband is addicted to Baclofen, you might want to reconsider destroying those pills until you can get him into rehab. Withdrawal has some serious side effects:

In your zeal to cure his addiction, you may just kill him.

She is taking your advice into consideration, Fear Itself, and putting them back into the closet for now. He’s scheduled to go to court next Friday for his fifth DUI and will probably be going to jail for some time…I don’t know what will happen to him, but she’s taken it upon herself to pack her things in move in with a friend.

Why she stayed with him for fifteen years is beyond me. He used to be be quite charming and she is a shy, simple Christian girl who keeps thinking things will eventually get better.

Apology accepted Chief. And thanks for the help.

Probably a moot point by now, but IIRC the DAN imprint usually is on Danbury Pharm. products? Are you sure about this logo ID?

Have a look at a recent copy of the “Physicians Desk Reference” I’ve identified many pills this way. It will also tell you “indications” (when to prescribe) and “contraindications” (when not to) etc.
