Darn it, I was just about to ask “How many vampires does it take to change a lightbulb?”, and now I can’t 'cause it’d be insensitive to vampires. Thanks a lot, Myrr21.
tracer, you’re right that you can’t joke about vampires here, but you misunderstand the reason. You see, historically, vampires have been known to prey mostly on the female gender. The vampire itself is depicted as suave and debonair while his victims are helpless young virgins with nary a flight or fight instinct within them.
To joke about this problem doesn’t shed light on the subject. It further rips open the gap between the oppressive male and the subjugated female. I, for one, find these vampire jokes to be highly insulting in a world where we need, now more than ever, to teach tolerance between the sexes.
I mean, what if you substituted the word “black” for “vampire”? Is it still funny then? Please think about the consequences of your humor before you just start spouting off from your keyboard.
Speaking of the female gender, Enderw24, didja work up the courage to ask her out Friday?
Enderw24’s dating a vampire? Neat!

Darn it, how come I never got to go to parties like that?
Oh, wait. It’s because I have no clue how to dress to get laid. Never mind.
Um…well, yes.
Last year I went to my friend’s Pimps ‘n Hos house party as a prosti, and this year I went to a Pimps n Hos club party as a pimp (I’m of the female persuasion). Whatever. I was just tryin’ to make a dollar with my stable of bitches. Okay, my best friend who was dressed as a French Canadian prosti. But really.
Pimps are basically the scum of the Earth (no matter how much one on the set of Taxi Driver told Harvey Keitel that they have to truly love their whores), and hos can go either way. Where I live, prostitutes (or “escorts”, mostly) are actually some of the most hardcore feminists around, and they even set up a political party campaigning for the rights of sex workers. None of this really has much to do with the parties, though. Most of the guys looked like extras from Satyrday Night Fever, and the girls, well, as far as club wear goes… does anyone else wonder how men pick up prostitutes anymore? Aside from the really obvious cases, how are they supposed to tell if someone is selling their wares or just going to a night club?
What I do is go up to them and ask if they are a prostitute. If I am not slapped I figure that either she’s a prostitute or she just wants me.
by the size of her handbag.
small handbag=club girl
big handbag= prostitute
As for the analogy of a whore/pimp relationship to a black person being hung, I don’t get it. A black man has no choice but to be a black man. A whore has chosen a certain career path with built-in hazards.
A whore can be reformed and change her life for the better, if she tries hard enough.
I honestly don’t know how people can be offended by the pimp/ho party, unless they’re a whore looking to get out of the business. And, in that case, I say get out of the business, already.
andros:
Yeah, to say nothing of all those cowards who say “hispanic” instead of “spic.” Buncha ludicrous wussies they are.
I mean, if you want to say “spic,” just fucking say it.
You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.
A common recruiting technique for pimps at one time was to hire street gangs to gang rape a girl (and I mean girl; many if not most prostitutes are recruited in their mid-teens). Few things shatter your self-image more completely than gang rape. The “pimp” shows up a few days later showering attention on her, sweet-talking her, and re-molding her personality until she is psychologically dependent on him. And that’s when he turns her out.
That’s not the only recruiting technique, of course. Many women and children are simply terrorized into subservience. Beatings and torture are common. One punishment for not bringing home enough cash is to lock the girl in a car trunk for hours or even days while driving around town. I once read of a pimp who had disciplined one of his girls, a fifteen-year-old, by covering her back with cigarette burns. If he really liked you, he’d show you Polaroids of her back. Pimps take pride in their creativity in “disciplining” (i.e. torturing) their girls. Girls and boys as young as ten are recruited and treated no better than adult women.
So, you see, you’re quite wrong. Many women do not prostitute themselves voluntarily.
And now maybe, just maybe, a few of you have the intelligence and imagination to understand why dressing up as a pimp is akin to donning a Klansman’s robe or a Gestapo uniform.
The really shocking thing here is the immense ignorance so many of you have shown as to what really goes on between pimps and prostitutes. I once lived in a very poor neighborhood and saw a lot of this ugliness and brutality up close–and that’s why I feel so disgusted with those of you who claim not to see anything wrong with a party that glamorizes pimping.
I disagree with the assertion that women do not prostitute themselves voluntarily. Sure, they are subject to mind games in order be coerced into becoming a prostitute. However, people always have choices. It is how they react to those choice that defines where they end up.
I’m not saying that these women decide “I’m going to sell my body to make some money”. I realize it is a brutal and ugly profession as well as the path to that profession. However, your assertion that it is not a choice is wrong. There are always choices, however impossible it may seem to make the choice.
This is supposed to be a great debate, not a pit rant. Therefore I would think you could refrain from personal attacks on fellow posters intelligence.
IME, street walkers rarely carry anything. My office is in a known district, and when I spot one, it’s nearly always ‘cause they’re hangin’ out, sauntering, w/o destination and not carrying anything.
As far a personal choice yaddy yaddy yaddy.
What are the options for a 13 year old child whose mother sends her on the street with expectation of earning $$? Or the woman who doesn’t speak the language of the country she’s in and the person who brought her tells her lies? Or the drug addicted person with only menial labor job skills?
It’s not as easy as ‘well, just do it’ or ‘just don’t do it’.
Case history from a client of mine I’ve known for 10+ years. While she was a child, her brothers (both) molested her. She told her mother. Her mother didn’t believe her and told her to stop telling lies or she’d be kicked out of the house. At age 13, she was on the street. She didn’t trust school authorities or any other authority. An older guy took her in, got her hooked on drugs and turned her out. She remained a street walker from age 13 - roughly 35. By this time, she’d done a prison stint (for stealing a tv from the house of a john who’d failed to pay her), and was diagnosed with lupus.
She physically could not do labor related jobs, and had no education to do anything else. Her legal medications cost over 200$ per month. She was in pain most of the time, could not stay out in the sun, etc.
I found it highly ironic that her boyfriend/pimp who beat her on a regular basis used to come to me to ask me to help her “straighten out” - mostly 'cause if she was really strung out, she wasn’t earning enought.
Yep, there were choices, but not simple and easy ones.

Well, you’re not a charmer, but you have good points about the machinations of the pimp/ho relationship, if what you say is true. I obviously have no personal knowledge of the trade, and neither do lots of people, not the least of those dressing like pimps and prostitutes.
I could see how it would be tough to get out of the trade, though. Never said it wouldn’t be.
Sorry, I was responding to LonesomePoleCat above. The bold part was her quote.
Did this party happen?
If not, did the administration stop it, or was it just dropped as a bad idea.
Of course it might be grossly offensive to some, even most people. The question in my mind is, did any public support go into it, like a University-owned party location?
Personaly, I think the idea is amusing, though I wouldn’t go to it. And you’re an idiot if your SURPRISED that some people would be offended.
However, even idiots have a right to throw an idiotic party on private property.
No, I’m not a charmer, at least not when this is the subject. You see, I’m really pissed off by the flippant attitude of many of the posters here who think they can just laugh off anybody who disagrees with them on the subject. The things that happen to many women and children in the prostitution racket are not something to laugh about or to dismiss with a sneer and a wave of the hand.
As for it being “tough” to get out of the trade, I imagine it was “tough” to get out of the cotton fields down on the old plantation. After all, they might be able to run away, or somehow get enough money to buy their freedom or maybe the master might emancipate him someday. But running away involved serious risk and the other two options weren’t all that likely to happen to the average slave. So it was tough to escape slavery, but not impossible. I still that wouldn’t make it okay to have a “plantation” party with some guests dressed up as wealthy planters and others dressed as slaves and wearing blackface. Many of the women and children in the sex trades really are slaves; if you don’t believe me, poke around the Internet and see.
Not long ago, I came across an article about a ring which lured women out of Russia and Eastern Europe with promises of high-paying jobs in America and Western Europe. The women were sold to pimps (that’s right, pimps buy and sell women), wound up walking the streets in a country whose language they didn’t speak, were too frightened to approach the police, and subject to beatings if they didn’t bring home enough money. Their passports were held by their pimps, claiming the women would get their passports back when they repaid the money they “owed” for their transportation and keep. Of course, they never came anywhere near paying the money. Escaping a situation like that is virtually impossible; not many manage to do it.
All of you who think I’m overreacting, try putting yourselves in these women’s shoes.
You were promised a high-paying job, from which you would pay back the expense of transportation, your keep and various “fees.” You find yourself in a country where you don’t speak the language very well or at all. The person who “hired” you turned you over to a man who’s first act was to beat you nearly senseless to let you know who’s boss. He takes your passport and pretty much any other important papers of yours. You end up selling your body to dozens of strangers a day. Your “boss” says he has connections with the police, so it’s useless to go to them; how do you know whether or not he’s lying? Your “boss” takes every nickel you make, claiming you owe it to him for your passage and upkeep. You could easily catch a fatal disease or get shot or stabbed by an irate customer. You are a virtual prisoner rarely or never out of the sight of the boss or one of his enforcers. You are fed slop. You live in constant fear of violence and even death.
Any of you guys still feel like partying?
agreed.
there were of course, folks who couldn’t understand how anyone** could** be offended. I dunno. I have a really dark sense of humor, really. this theme wouldn’t seem ‘fun’ to me. Guess I’ve seen too many folks harmed by the lifestyle portrayed (the pimps, the hookers, the children of same, the families of same, the customers** of same, the neighbors of same etc.) to find it an amusing party theme. Sort of the same way I saw ‘heorin chic’.
Perhaps it’s the remoteness quotient. I personally know folks who’ve been harmed by the lifestyle. shrug.
** customers have been known to be beaten, robbed, given diseases, arrested etc. Locally a couple of men were caught in prostitute stings and lost their jobs with the school district.
Points taken. Now I know how you can be offended.
See. That’s what we do. We listen and learn.
Personally, I wouldn’t partake in this now that I know more.
