Pineapple - does anyone not like it?

Really? This is good? I’m tempted because I like all those things, some of them in combination, but would never have put them together. I’m trusting you that this really is as delicious as you suggest.

Pineapple and ham on a pizza isn’t complete without olives. Just sayin’

I have never liked pineapple in any form, in any dish. It’s just plain nasty.

And yes, I have had fresh grown pineapple, and I have had pineapple grown in Hawaii. Still nasty. It tastes like it’s gone off - way too sweet.

THANK YOU. Other folks think I’m nuts when I tell them there’s a vast difference between Hawaiian pineapple and south American pineapple. I don’t know how they do it in Hawaii; it must be the quality of that lava soil or something. Whenever I’m in Hawaii, I make a beeline for a fruit stand or a supermarket to get my fix.

And luckily, a local small supermarket chain here in the Bay Area carries Hawaiian pineapples, and I try only to buy them there.

I adore pineapple, but I always favor sweet/tart fruit over just plain sweet fruit.

I love pineapple. I can eat it fresh, out of a can, or on a pizza.

When my daughter was a wee tyke, we had a week where essentially all she would eat was canned pineapple with parmesian cheese on it. At first glance, that may not sound to appetizing, but when you think about it, you get the sweet and salty right there. It is not too bad.

I don’t like it so we can close the thread now as it has been asked and answered.

No sir, i don’t like it.

Pineapple is one of my favorite sweet treats and I buy fresh one a few times a month for snackage. It rarely lasts a full day before being devoured. I also like to keep a few cans of crushed and chunk pineapple on hand.

I can eat pineapple on a pizza but it needs to be mated with pepperoni, onions, peppers and jalapenos. One thing I do NOT understand is the obsession with cloves and pineapple rings stapled all over a baked ham. All you’re doing is screwing up a good ham and making some poor pineapple miserable when it wants to be tucked in nice and warm with the upside down cake.

It is. BUT NOT ON PIZZA!!11!!1

Also a little bit of hot peppers helps.

Hurts my mouth.

Never on pizza, otherwise it’s good!

Pineapple is one of the few fruits I really dislike. Cannot stand it in any format.

Yes, that happens to me too sometimes but only with fresh and only some of the time. Sometimes it burns like crazy; usually that’s the stuff from Costa Rica.

But I still love it.

I had no idea so many people disliked it. Thanks for the enlightenment!

Love it in all forms. BBQ’d pineapple spears, Pineapple in smoothies, on pizza, in salads, and of course, the Pineapple Upside Down cake.

(A friend made one sugar free last week. Delicious!!!)

Last fall I made a couple batche of pineapple-tangerine marmalade. It was heavenly. Like sunshine in a jar.

I didn’t have any problems with mine setting up, I don’t remember how long it cooked.

I love to make a grill full of sweet Hawaiian baby burgers if I’m having lots of folks over. The recipe gives you the option, but IMO you must use Hawaiian bread rolls for this.

WHERE? WHERE? WHERE?

On the difference between Hawaiian vs. grown elsewhere: Is it really a matter of where they are grown, the climate or soil conditions, or the variety of pineapple? I always assumed, simply, that the problem was: pineapples harvested green vs. field-ripened.

In Hawaii, you get them field-ripened, or very nearly so. I always thought that is what makes all the difference.

I’m not a big fan of pineapple, but the only Domino’s pizza I could eat was the pineapple-ham one. I will not put pineapple on any other pizza, nor will I order a Domino’s pizza myself, but if a group vote comes down to ordering pizza from Domino’s (I’m thinking college here), pineapple and ham would make it edible. Not sure what it was about the combo.

Pineapples are delicious, especially on pizza.

Lunardi’s Markets. I once sought out the produce manager to tell him how happy I was that Lunardi’s carried Hawaiian pineapple, and he said that Mr. Lunardi was very choosy about the fruit that he carried and wouldn’t allow distributors to put one over on him.

Their papayas are also Hawaiian and topnotch.

I’m not fond of it, and no way does it (or any fruit) belong on pizza.

Love pineapples. It is the first thing I go for in those edible bouquets. Love Pineapple juice too. When I eat breakfast out, that is my go to drink.

On a pizza though? Nope. Yuck.
