I’ve just made an astounding discovery. Three mystery bushes in the landscaping of our newish house are pineapple guavas. They bear green, egg-shaped fruit, the white flesh of which is absolutely delectable: kind of like a combination of pineapple, strawberry and mint. I’ve been googling for recipes, but mostly come up with formulas for pineapple guava wine. I do see that PGs are mostly grown in New Zealand, so do any of you NZ dopers know any good recipes for these yummy little fruits?
Well, if they’re similar to the consistancy of a regular guava, puree the fruit, mix it with cream cheese, a little sugar, a few eggs and bake in a tart shell. Yum.
