What to Serve with a Fruit Dip?

I’m tasked with making a couple of dips for one family get together and I’ve decided on one sweet and the other savory. The latter is easy to figure out what to put with it, but the former, not so much. Help!

For the record, I’ll be making a pineapple dip that has cream cheese at its base. And unfortunately, this is a pretty conservative bunch of eaters, so something like durian is totally out of the picture. Thank Og. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretzel sticks would be good with a pineapple cream cheese dip. You could get some fancy Pepperidge Farm ones.

Everything tastes good on a Ritz. Celery and carrot sticks would work too. If you want to be trendy, sprinkle bacon bits over the top.

I’d say graham cracker squares would sound pretty good with the fruit dip.

I like the pretzel idea. I’d go with the larger rods though for more room to hold yummy dip.

Apple and pear wedges.

Pound cake or shortbread.

Wheat Thins.

Nilla Wafers

I do fruit trays with dip fairly often for family gatherings. The basic one is sliced tart apples, halved strawberries and green and red seedless grapes. You want something dry enough to hold onto the dip, something like kiwi slices the dip just slides right off. Starfruit slices are pretty if you can find them, I give the slices a lemon-water dip just like the apples to keep them from browning.

Wonderful suggestions, everyone! I’m going to run them by some of the attendees to see what they think, but right now I think I’m leaning towards graham crackers or pretzels. Both of which I already have and I’m broke, so it’d be one-stop shopping. Heh.

Thank you all so much! As usual, Dopers rock.
