Link: Do El line colors mean anything?
I lived in Chicago from 1987-2000. Well, really only in Chicago and Evanston for about five years, then in the far-flung corners of Cook County (i.e. Arlington Heights).
When I lived in Evanston in 1992 and worked in the museum district, I used to take the Evanston express down to Fullerton, switch to the Red Line, continue down to Jackson, then get on the bus (143, maybe) to the Field/Adler/Shedd area. (That’s when tourists occasionally got flattened sprinting across LSD from the Field to the Shedd, before they moved the road to the west side of the Field).
On weekends, the Evanston (Purple) line ended at Howard, so I would have to switch there. If I was lucky I got on an A or B train and got to skip a bunch of the stops on the way to Jackson. If it was off hours, I might have to take the All Stop
ANYWAY, apparently the colors have all changed. Skokie Swift will always be black to me! And Pink? Heaven forfend!
I really need to get back to (sweet home) Chicago. I’m feeling old and homesick now
