Pirate recipes wanted, yarrr.

Avast! I be invited to a birthday do this Saturn’s Day, where there be quaffin’ and hoistin’ of brews to celebrate a fine young wench who be in our local theater.

And so I be thinkin’ of some piratey provisions t’ take along, exceptin’ of course the hardtack and grog, and I be wonderin’ if there’s any of ye swabs out there with recipes of lightly braised chicken and steamed julienne vegetables with a sauce made from tropical fruits that… uh, arrr! Pirates don’t talk that way, arrr.

Any ideas?

We did this, recently.

No wonder I couldn’t find it: I was searching for “recipe,” not “food.” Silly me.

I’ve decided that I want to just grill up some cubes of chicken and (turkey) ham and make some dipping sauces to go with 'em. Yeah, I could buy sauces, but this sounds like more fun.

Anybody have any ideas on some ways to combine tropical flavors like papaya, lime, coconut, pineapple, rum, and so forth into some creative dipping sauces? I’ve got some ideas that I’ll try out this week, but suggestions would be welcome.

Salted parrot?

Pirate recipes, eh? Must they be pirates, or will any cut of long pork fit the bill?
