Pistachio Commercials

What is the deal with these? Who is funding them? The bag shown in them is generic with no brand name.

They’re not generic. “Wonderful Pistachios” is the brand name, and the minimal black package that simply has “pistachios” written in a large font up the middle is how they’re sold.

The who and why is in this article: http://thepacker.com/Pistachio-commercials-hit-prime-time/Article.aspx?articleid=845205&authorid=654&feedid=221

Ahhh, I wasn’t aware of this brand. Thanks, that explains a lot!

Do newlyweds have sex or eat pistachios five times a day? I’m thinking neither, so I fail to see the point of the commerical.

I blame the Iranians.

I love them … I think they are done in a very cute manner that makes me giggle when I see them. Unfortunately I already buy that brand so the commercials are a failure

I don’t really understand the point as they don’t compete for the same market. Pistachios are far more expensive than peanuts, and while they might have slightly less fat than peanuts that’s not saying a lot as they are still very calorie dense.

They certainly inspire a pistachio craving every time I see one of those commercials! I’ve not seen that brand, and I, too, thought it was some generic commercial from some pistachio growers association or something.

They currently cost about 4 times what they did about 4 years ago. I can’t afford them at all at the current prices. All I see for sale now are California grown, so that explains the terrible high prices.

Does the chick drop a shell or a nut down the front of her dress?

I would imagine this is to counter any and all negative publicity due to a national pistachio recall last April. “Don’t worry, they’re good for you!”
