Caught in rural Ohio with a pistachio ice cream craving you wouldn’t believe.
No one sells it! My only choice is Ben & Jerry’s Pistachio Pistachio which Just Isn’t Right (it tastes like vanilla with chunks of salty pistachio, and it isn’t greeeeen!)
Am I alone in my fervor for pistachio? Will I never find pistachio again?

Hrm. No wonder why. I mean, sure, mint is green too, But I would think that green ice cream just in general kinda gives off the impression of Alien brain juice.
No, you aren’t the only one to like pistachio. I like it too, but even when it’s scarce in the grocery stores, as sometimes happens, Baskin-Robbins can always give me a fix. Pistachio, black walnut, coffee, and chocolate, are my four favorite flavors. Finding a fellow black walnut appreciator is even harder than finding someone who likes pistachio.
I’m sure I’d join you in the whole black walnut love fest if I’d ever, well, tried it.
I’ve been oppressed by The Man into eating the green nutty flavor rather than the black nutty flavor.

They have alot over in Italy. Just stop over there right quick. Only make sure you pronounce it “pistaKio” or else they’ll laugh at you and won’t give you any.

Well, I have to confess that I like Ben & Jerry’s Pistachio Pistachio, and I think it tastes more like almond extract than vanilla. Next best thing to almond kulfi. I try to have some in the house whenever I cook Indian.
Black walnut is good too.
Pistachio is my favorite. I don’t seem to find it very often either.
I’m so intrigued by the idea that there is a Pistachio ice cream that is not made by Ben and Jerry’s! Don’t get me wrong, I love Ben and Jerry’s…but I agree that their pistachio is just not that great. Can anyone suggest a good brand that I can try to see what the real stuff is like?
I used to love Pistachio Almond ice cream from Baskin Robbins, but I can’t eat ice cream anymore (and don’t really like it because it always gives me a tummy ache) so I do without.
But when I was younger it was my favourite.
I, too, love pistachio ice cream. Mmmmm. I was afraid of the whole concept as a kid, but now I’ve discovered what I’d missed all these years.
Pistachio is Mr. Amanita’s favorite. Blue Bell makes a pistachio almond flavor that is pretty damn awesome.
Hagen Daas makes a great pistachio ice cream, as does Brighham’s, if it’s available in your area. I can’t imagine NOT having access to at least 4 or 5 brands of pistachio at any time, though. You people are really missing out.
Do you guys have any Lebanese or Turkish grocers? They do the best pistachio icecream here. It’s not quite normal icecream to Aus/US/UK tastes, sort of more elastic in texture. But good if you can find it.
Gelatissimo is a newish Australian gelato chain that does pistachio gelato; it’s OK but not strong flavoured enough and rather almondy.
I love black walnut! It’s my favorite flavor!

Look for Italian gelato, y’all got eyetalians in Ohio. I love pistachio, but it gets more coloring abuse than one of those mall punkette’s hair. It’s not supposed to be the color of a spit-up spring grass cud. And why in dog’s name do they color the shells red?
Oh yeah, there’s a little Armenian cafe near me that has awesome pitachio-based baklava-type thingys (the ones that look like eggrolls filled with whole pistachios SLAY me).
