Pit Bulls (continued)

Are all stupid fucks like yourself trolls? If you introduce people like yourself to a random thread will you immediately start trolling?

Yea, crucible reanimates the thread for no other reason than to pick a fight. Not even using the excuse of reporting a questionable “pit bull” attack. Nope, more like “I haven’t poked the hornet’s nest in a while. I’d better get at it.”

Let me ask YOU a question: why in the world would you ask this? Seriously, can you tell me the thought process that leads to this? Because it is a completely ridiculous, nonsensical question, one that reveals one or both of two things:

  1. You do not read anything anyone writes that doesn’t support your point of view (because the answer to this question would be crystal clear if you did).

  2. You imagine you are being clever and you will “trick” :dubious: someone into saying yes to this. Which would be really pathetic. (Of you, in case that’s not obvious.)

At the end of the day, you are extraordinary in your attachment to your agenda, and your ability to remain completely impervious to anything and everything that doesn’t fit your world view. What’s interesting is how anyone could have such a passionate hostility towards something that they have not themselves had to deal with. I mean, if a dog had ripped off your finger or something, I’d understand, but as it is it seems like you just need someplace to direct your fear and you picked pit bulls.

Now that’s what I call comedy gold.

I think that the evidence linking ‘pit bulls’ to being, quite clearly, more dangerous than most other dog breeds is irrefutable. Calling me every name you can devise does not change the facts.

One analogy people have tried is that people who think pit bulls are more dangerous and should be banned are the same people who think that getting rid of assault rifles will keep people from killing each other. That isn’t really true. I believe that if everyone carried, openly, some form of pistol or rifle, fewer people would be victimized and we could retire most of the homicide detectives…but…if everyone owned a pit bull, the number of people killed by pit bulls would be in direct proportion to their increasing numbers. The pit bull brain is not a human brain. Lurking in it is the tendency to go crazy and to try to kill something because it was bred for just that purpose. Really. What other essential purpose does your pit bull serve? Isn’t it true that the reason you have a pit bull is that other people will be less inclined to picture you as a victim? The fear factor is why you have that kind of dog, but you can’t control that dog like you can control your impulse to draw and fire your pistol.

I’m not being nasty to you any more than you are being nasty to me. You think I have a hard head? I truly believe you are crazy to own and provide shelter to dangerous animals. Why any sentient being would do that is unfathomable to me. Every purpose, other than intimidation, that you can put a dog to could be served by dogs who are not documented as being disproportionate killers of humans.

You think that my stating my opinion that pit bulls are more dangerous than other dogs is crazy? You are the crazy ones.

And, moderators, if the purpose of the “Pit” is not for spirited debate on issues of this sort, then what the hell is the purpose?

“Spirited debate” would involve folks engaging you. We all quit doing that a long time ago, but you seem to enjoy hollering away inside your echo chamber.

Maybe a pit bull isn’t the breed for you!

No, the willful rabid ignorance on display is crazy.

Exactly (and points to you sir for the context-friendly use of the word “rabid”, heh). Crucible dude, have you read The Pit Bull Placebo yet? If not, you should. You don’t belong here fighting ignorance if you don’t start with yourself.

obviously, people are responding to my opinion. that’s normal and healthy. Gritting your teeth and thinking that you are being unfairly criticized for loving vicious dogs is unhealthy and expensive. Let it out. Even the most completely wrong headed person is entitled to a say. either of us.

And you think that for two reasons.

  1. You have a useless standard for what constitutes “evidence”. You consider anecdotes evidence, you are not capable of discerning between correlation and causation, you have a total lack of understanding of statistics, etc.

  2. The only things you take into consideration are things that support your view. You don’t refute opposing facts with better facts, you either pretend it doesn’t exist or respond with a link to a story about a (purported, again, you just take it at face value because it works for you) pit bull attacking someone and act as though that’s all that’s required. Well, see #1.
So your belief that what you consider evidence is irrefutable is understandable. But meaningless in real terms.

No, the purpose of the Pit is that it’s the place you can go when you want to call a crazy dumbfuck a crazy dumbfuck without getting in trouble.

You crazy dumbfuck.

Still hilarious!

Happy to make you happy… I live to serve.

Knowing that I’m on the right side of the pit bull argument makes it possible for me to absorb your unwarranted slurs.

Crazy dumbfuck right back atcha.

You, dudess, seem to believe that every news organization in the whole world is conspiring to give pit bulls a bad name. That is sad, and, I really think, deluded. But, by all means, expose yourself and your family to them and just be ready to accept the consequences when one of your lovable dogs injures or kills someone. That’s all I ask. Oh, and don’t be surprised when cops and other folks defend themselves from the out of control dogs that you love so well.

If that’s all you ask. Done. Now can you shut up and go away.

Very telling, what you choose to respond to.
