Pit thread for Martin_Hyde {He has been BANNED}

^Is this sea lioning? I truly don’t know. Trying to read people’s minds? Putting words in other people’s mouths?

When you come up with an intelligent, and/or interesting question, maybe I’ll answer it.

Only if the person judging is apt to think in those terms. Which does say a lot about said person, IMHO .

I mean you were worked into such a frothy lather I wanted you to know you could take a break. I also note you’ve randomly started calling me racist as well–another page out of the playbook I see.

“Helps facilitate murder.” Do you have any idea how unhinged you sound? I certainly do no such thing.

Because I want to win. I’m not a Democrat now, but I’m a dem-aligned Independent, I don’t like losing. I get genuinely angry at things that the Democrats do that I associate with losing.

There is not a “both sides” to this argument. There are the Democrats, and there are any potentially persuadable non-Democrats. That’s it. There is no other side. There’s a wall called the GOP. You cannot expect much from a wall. To get by it you have to figure out a way through, over or under it. That wall’s strength is built by winning elections, it is weakened by losing them. There is no meaningful gun reform without winning elections. And playing into grievance cycles and politics that have done nothing but lose Dems votes for 30 years just makes that Republican wall ever stronger.

Do people realize the Democrats haven’t just failed to advance gun control in most places, we’ve actually seen a significant expansion in bad gun laws–like unrestricted carry becoming normalized in something like 26 states. Democrats aren’t just losing this, they are losing it big.

It troubles me when people on these forums wish death on me and mine, yes.

I’m not the one wishing death on innocent people.

Yeah, I’m not wishing death on people.

You mean if we got fairly comprehensive gun control like I have posted that I am in favor of, we would have more deaths? Would you like to check back with yourself and revise that statement?

I am not in favor of any gun deaths, unlike people in this thread who have wished death upon my friends and family.

There’s two ways to read this, one way is this is just an attack, the other is that it’s a genuine question. I assess it has a 95% chance of just being an attack. On the 5% odds it isn’t an attack–no I am not fine with deaths of people I don’t know, but I am willing to accept the reality that certain liberties–in this case gun liberty, will mean some bad or some disturbed people do bad things with guns. I view that as a cost of the liberty, that doesn’t mean I like or am fine with it. Beyond that–there are non-Pit Threads going on where the actual issue of gun rights vs policy can be discussed, it isn’t productive to get too into the details here.

That their mere words – with barely a metaphysical possibility of causing harm to your and yours – strongly appear to trouble you more than the countless number of innocent gun violence victims … is, itself, troubling.

These kids were torn to shreds by bullets. You were rent asunder by words.

I don’t support the words used, but I understand the frustration that gave rise to them.

Fuck your “assessment”, and fuck you.

Nice, we went with the 95% option.

There is as manifest difference between wishing death on a person and accepting it as an inevitable outcome of another decision.

My sincere question is this: What if you were one of those parents who lost their child? Would you still be okay with an abstract “inevitability”?

Nah.

She got through to you, Martin.

You assessed that Max_S – among other things – lacked empathy.

I’m beginning to understand your facility to recognize this trait.

Many of us are feeling the hurt of these kids, their families, their communities almost as much as you’re feeling the sting of @Drsunflower1 's words.

Ya know what sounds like an unhinged person facilitating murder? This: “I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”

“I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”

“I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”

“I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”

fuck you

Oh good you’re back. You’re a piece of shit.

“I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”

Again–this person wished death on people. That is immoral. If you don’t believe it is immoral, you are also immoral.

It also feels like, Martin, you’re more troubled by the profanity – used in response to an unimaginable profanity (these gun killings) – than you are by the gun killings themselves.

Whether or not this is what’s in your head and heart, I’ll promise you that I’m not the only one to whom you’re coming across this way.

Who do you keep referring to? Who wished death on anyone?
Also, what was I lying about?

Nice tautology.

Patented ?

Whistle-whistle.

I’m sure I wasn’t the one “Working up a frothy lather” while they were AFK, ya perv.

Nothing random about it - the genocide denial, the support for Stop and Frisk, the coded words about “inner cities” and “illegal immigration”. Not random at all, no.

I care far more about gun deaths than use of profanity–but no one in this thread is actively committing gun crimes at the moment, although some people have started wishing it on innocents. I find the childish ad homs, and honestly the entire childishness of the Pit where first class histrionic trolls like @MrDibble gets to play act for his ignorant hangers on, to be stupid and childish. I mock the childish profanity use because I find it silly and dumb. It is certainly not because I “care more about it” than children being killed.

What I also will say is I don’t embrace immoral actions like you do–you openly have said now you are fine with wishing death on other poster’s friends and family. How dare you think you have any grounds to judge me.

WHO??

I’d like to make one thing abundantly clear:

22 (is it still 22 ?) people were senselessly and needlessly murdered in Uvalde, Texas.

But @Martin_Hyde is the real victim.

[mic drop]

Because you say stupid fucking shit like “I also firmly want it understood—I am 100% willing to trade more deaths for gun rights.”
