There is a huge difference between: " Biden said something that sounded like the N-word." vs “Biden said the N-wrod”. Biden didnt say that word. Sure, maybe or maybe not you can hear it, but he didnt say it.
Not relevant. Here you are saying Biden actually said “porn”. In this case, he didnt. He tripped over a word and it came out sounding like a bad word. The difference is large.
…to a select few.
If only the proffer were an actual dog.
Are you suggesting that when @AmicableGrouch signs up next week you will be anything less than open minded?
I’ll be relying on my Doper more informed and experienced betters to alert me, but will be reading with my newbie spidey sense on medium high alert. If it tingles, I’ll post same right out loud (in The Pit) and ask for feedback.
That would be a weird thread in the Pit, though. That’s more like a MPSIMS thread to me. Something like, “Hey, Joe Biden stumbled over his words and he ended up sounding like he said the N-word. Right wing boards are losing their shit over it.” Doesn’t seem like Pit material to me.
The Pit kicks ass.
An opinion as backed by citation as Octopus’s are.
You just know that FC is lurking and basking in the success of his last thread. Must we feed trolls/socks after they are banned?
It should be noted that Friendly Curmudgeon wasn’t alone in thinking that Biden said the N-word. A great deal of posts in the comment section of that YouTube video claimed the same, too.
Doesn’t meant they were right, but FC certainly wasn’t a lone person thinking that thought.
In other news, YouTube comments are full of trolls. Story at 11.
According to YouTube, and it’s comments sections, the Earth is flat and less than 10,000 years old.
I disagree. A great number of people in that comment section claimed that Biden said the N-word. I don’t believe a single one of them thought he really did.
Nor, of course, do I accept your premise that @FriendlyCurmudgeon thought he did.
If you turn on YouTube’s auto generated Closed Captioning system, which is notoriously crappy and renowned for its often vulgar and embarrassing mistakes, it does in fact seem to think that Biden said the N word (as a verb, in a past tense).
So at least one bot is under the impression that Biden said the N word.
So are you suggesting that it’s credible that even one person who might have been watching the closed captions with the sound off, saw the closed caption including the slur, and accepted that such a bizarre thing was correct without bothering to go back and listen with the sound on?
No, I am suggesting that there may be other bots in the YouTube comment section making the same mistake
And also that there may be humans whose capacity for distinguishing sounds is on par with the YouTube closed captioning bot.
I’ve cited stuff from Ed Zotti with regards to rules clarifications and was explicitly told that that was rules lawyering. Do I really need to detail the sequence events of why I state claims for so called cites are farcical? Seriously, it’s a farcical game you folks are engaged in and no set of cites will convince those who don’t want to be convinced.
Your error is relying on your interpretation of something Ed said when; Ed doesn’t really run this place the mods do and when the mods disagree with Ed Ed, when he’s being smart, defers to the mods.
You didn’t latch onto that rule because it’s a ‘’‘rule’’’ you latched onto it because it gave you the result you desired in the first place.
