Pitting Honeybadger

Not if it’s half-baked.

So his post was his cite?

Somehow Seymour Hersh of all people has been buying into this tripe.

Harsh slam at Nigeria for no reason.

And if you think he’s trolling in any other forum, please report that, too.

FUCK YOU DISCOURSE, HOW DO YOU KEEP UNIGNORING THAT POS

Whew, got that out of my system. I found myself seeing HB spouting in the “sneering at people with less formal education” and just as I posted a rebuttal thought, didn’t I ignore that person for being such a smugly self-assured blind bigot?

What was HBDC’s timeline on when the BIG Hunter Biden or Joe Biden news was going to come out? That was before his thread ban over in the Hunter Biden thread. Are we past the drop dead date? Is he now starting to question his news sources?

“I imagine within a week”, which was posted 20 days ago.

A true believer ever questioning Fox News? That stopped being funny at least a decade ago

I imagine it’s no different than other cults that promise an apocalypse on a particular date. Once it comes and goes, and nothing happens, there is an excuse and another date. And people swallow it up, because it’s a cult. HBDC is taking in the Qult messaging, so I don’t see why this should go any differently.

I guess I’d be a terrible cultist. If my leader said that the world is ending on Thursday or we will all be bodily taken up to paradise on March 5th or whatever, and it didn’t happen, I’d give up. If my news sources were so terrible that they had me itching for a specific thing on a specific date and it was wrong, I’d probably try and find better news sources.

Maybe that’s why there’s no real Pit thread about me.

What probably happened is you only ignored for a month. Ignores are temporary by default, you have to specify if you want it to be permanent.

Furthermore there’s a bug that prevents you from permanently ignoring users if you’re using certain browsers on certain devices. But the bug was squashed today and should disappear soon.

Man, I hope I never fall for those kinds of things. (crosses fingers, rubs lucky magic foot, knocks wood)

That’s more likely a scenario, I’ve reported this problem before, and been extra careful to select the ‘forever’ option as a result. But who knows.

I also like to think I would be impervious to cultist thinking. And maybe I would be!

But of course what cult leaders do is separate their followers from everyone with a contrary opinion.

So if the world didn’t end on May 11, I might leave. But if everybody I knew, everybody I loved, everybody I relied on, everybody I played games with and had conversations with and had dinner with, if all the people in my life agreed with dear Leader that the world was now going to end on September 29, and if it was clear that I’d be shunned if I expressed what I really thought…well, I’m not at all sure I wouldn’t at least say I agreed too. It can be scary to express a competing opinion in those circumstances.

Thus, Fox News.

And I’ve seen very few examples of people who were well known, and almost instantly forgotten, upon their deaths.

I listened to him when he first went national in the late 1980s, because I recognized a lot of it as satire.

Having missed the edit deadline, forgotten by way Mr. Limburger was.

I would be scarier to continue to associate with people who have just demonstrated that their mental faculties are so obviously that degraded. I’d just find a new batch of acquaintances, and minimize contact with the relations to the minimum necessary.

I think that you and Ulf are underestimating the extent to which cult members invest their entire identity into the cult. Given the choice between, deciding that everything they’ve ever known, felt or believed is a lie and I have entirely wasted my life, versus accepting some rationalization for why they got the date wrong, its much easier to take the latter path.

How about a semi-pit?

Honeybadger drives me nuts in political threads, and seems to starts other threads without spending two seconds to think it out himself. In this recent one, he even admits:

But lo and behold, his silly question has turned into an entertaining thread with 50+ posts, many citing advanced geological research. So, yay, HDC. Stay weird.

That is indeed his most sole redeeming feature. Shame about the other features. Most charitably described as curmudgeonly, and they go rapidly into the shitter / Pit from there.
