Sorry about the confusion on my part! Or, maybe I was just protecting you when all the evidence comes out next week and shows you for the gullible sap that you are?
For some reason, I often get your posts and iiandyiiii’s posts confused. Maybe because they’re usually patient, cogent posts, not matter how terrible the poster you’re addressing is?
I think it’s just as simple as he said, he’s been watching nothing but Fox News for weeks. He has a certain but vague idea of all the hundreds of travesties attributable to Biden, but no hard facts because Fox News glosses over all the specifics. But he’s thoroughly 100% convinced because he’s been brainwashed. This is the same exact thing that happened to my relative - went from liberal to MAGA in several months after marrying a Fox News devotee who watches all day long.
Bingo! I have relatives that watch it all the time (you stop by their house and you have a 100% chance of seeing it unless there is a football game on…their TVs are ALWAYS on) and this is them. I’ve watched some of their shit shows and it is all insinuation and “just asking questions”. It’s complete bullshit.
Yay on the Le Guin thing, and I’m very lucky that some people appreciate crankiness. (I think I’m a lot less cranky in person, in part because I vent my crank on online cranks).
Likewise with 2 close relatives in my life (live in another state). You’d think they’d get sick of it after awhile (myself I can only handle political news in c. 5 min. chunks), and put on either a nature documentary or some NCIS reruns or something.
Y’know, come to think of it, this explains a lot. If the TV is always on, you’re not actually paying much attention to it, just catching snippets here and there. And if those snippets include vague references to “the mounting evidence”, or the like, then it would be easy for a person to say to themself “Huh, I guess I just wasn’t paying attention when they said what all of the evidence was”. But of course they weren’t paying attention to when they said that, because they never said it.
It’s like that old online card trick: You don’t see the card you picked from the first set, because you don’t see any of the cards from the first set.
I have a couple of right wing talk stations saved on my radio. Not because I listen to those shows, but sometimes the stations will have a local sports broadcast I want to hear.
This morning as I was flipping through stations, I got to one of those stations and one guy (didn’t catch his name, I didn’t pay attention or care) was talking about how Joe Biden was cooked because there was evidence of his criminal activity. And he was crowing about how he was right all along, and he predicted it back in February. He then played a clip of himself back then.
At no point did he ever give a shred of evidence. He was just repeating today the same vague allegations he had said months ago. Somehow, in his world, you can use your own baseless claims from months ago as proof of something. Like, if I said this a long time ago, there you go, that’s my evidence.
It was insane. The general premise was that Joe Biden was trying to keep his son from being investigated for tax crimes because if they did, they’d find evidence that Joe was getting bribes from Ukraine, and that’s the only reason Joe supports Ukraine. Yes, in the right wing world, people need to have dirt on you before you care whether a ruthless neighbor invades a country without provocation.
It was insane. How can anyone fall for this tripe?!
