Pitting Honeybadger

That song is nowhere.

I’m assuming you mean the Leonard Cohen one, not the Divine Comedy one. Very different songs.

JOURNALIST: What crime exactly are you accusing president obama of committing and do you believe the justice department should prosecute him?

TRUMP: Obamagate, it’s been going on for a long time.
It’s been going on from before I even got elected and it’s a disgrace that it happened and if you look at what’s gone on and if you look at now, all of this information that’s being released and from what I understand, that’s only the beginning.
Some terrible things happened and it should never be allowed to happen in our country again. […]

JOURNALIST: What is the crime exactly that you’re accusing him of?

TRUMP: You know what the crime is. The crime is very obvious to everybody.

I have no goddamn idea if that’s real or not.

ETA: Ninja’d
You know what the crime is

I should have known.

It was sort of funny when I thought it was satire. I miss the times when that kind of circular nonsense garbage would be an SNL skit.

The subject of this thread just got moderated in my US Climate Corps thread for thread-shitting and hijacking. I really don’t recall any other interaction with them before now. And this does not give me a positive impression.

I really don’t know why they aren’t topic-banned for climate change and anything climate change adjacent. A long history of posting climate change denialist talking points as “things they have heard/read” without any attribution or citation, conspiracy theories that dissenting scientific voices on climate change are suppressed, and starting threads asking questions in bad faith about scientific topics with a hidden motivation to push climate change denial.

I just did a search and it turns out I have had interaction with this thread’s highlighted loon. It was in their graphology thread where they convinced themself that woo is an actual science. They were talking about the pseudoscience nonsense, not the actual handwriting analysis used by such entities as the FBI. Wow.

A thread ban and topic ban warning for him!

You will not disrupt any more threads with this nonsense. You are not to post any further in this thread. Avoid Climate Denial posts or next will begin the suspensions.

I was about to post “you can’t handle the truth” as a joke, and in searching for the clip - today I learned that Jack Nicholson improvised the line. Apparently the original script was “you already know the truth”.

Is this well known? I’m finding it difficult to handle the truth about “you can’t handle the truth”.

I am looking at the original theatrical script from which the screenplay was adapted. On page 116: “You can’t handle the truth.”

Wherever you found that factoid, it is inaccurate.

So my inability to handle the “truth” about “you can’t handle the truth” was justified!

HB’s “hypothesis” that maybe all this extra CO2 is somehow great for life is, while completely lacking in scientific backing, at least kind of creative. But denying the very easily demonstrable (seriously – it can be demonstrated in an elementary school science lab with baking soda, vinegar, and a few other easily obtained supplies) fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas that increases the temperature of the Earth is a special kind of hard-headed idiocy.

I get the impression that HB puts the justifications and rationale after the beliefs – he hates Biden, and then looks for reasons to justify this hatred; and he hates environmentalism, then looks for reasons to justify it.

From IMDB trivia:

Again, looking at this script which was printed by Samuel French reflecting the original stage production and bought by me before the movie adaptation was produced, and retrieved from my shelf of theatrical publications specifically to check this question, the line is already there. Any stories to the contrary should be taken with a grain of salt.

Hold up, A Few Good Men was based on a stageplay? I had no idea!

Not just that, but there is a French stage play!!!

(In a manner of speaking. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Yes, the IMDB trivia’s probably BS. The name of the Reiner/Brooks comedy sketch appears to be “The 2000 Year Old Man”, not “The World’s Oldest Man” as stated in IMDB trivia.
