I don’t know what his motives are. I’ve long since given up on having any interesting conversation with him. His entrance into a thread tells me to sigh heavily and stretch my scrollin’ thumb.
He’s only ever really had one policy: undoing any policy enacted by a Democrat – one Democrat (with the initials BHO) in particular.
Max’s tactic in the debate thread…
-
Find anything to criticize Harris about, no matter how petty or insignificant.
-
Declare that based on that, she lost, and paint yourself as the person brave enough to declare that the emperor is wearing no clothes.
It wasn’t sincere at all. It was bullshit and yeah, arguably trolling. There were things to criticize Harris on that had some legitimacy. She did say some things that were either untrue or needed more context (though it was a couple of things compared to a phone book of lies, fantasy, and slander from Trump). She spent more time attacking Trump than laying out policy or advocating her own qualities. She didn’t always answer the questions. Those are arguable but have some substance. (Note that I think she demonstrated a masterclass in how to handle Trump and think she did exactly what she needed to.)
Instead… Mouth was dry? A bit too close to the microphone? Moved hands too much? Was trolling Trump? For fucks’ sake.
This was Max just wanting to be a contrarian and was frankly pathetic. Yes, Max is pretty dumb.
Oh, and hey, PG applauds the courage it takes to offer a different opinion!
What a couple of assholes
I think, after he has been corrected so many times, that it goes beyond “very stupid” into "Deliberately asshole/provocateur.
Who is PG?
Philly Guy.
My take on Max is that he’s a True Believer™, and as such, he does what all true believers do: He has a conclusion already picked out, and then he cherry picks whatever “facts” support the conclusion he wants to draw. Philly Guy does the same thing.
Based on a quick read of their posts, it almost makes sense. Then a critical mind says, “Wait. Wut?”
PhillyGuy, a “I don’t like Trump but why can’t Democrats nominate a conservative” sort of fella
Country-Western song title.
Sittin on the porch drinkin Pepsi and rum
Listnin to the crickets and cicadas hum
Someone on the Internet says somethin dumb
It’s time to break out your scrollin thumb
Bravo! I would buy the single.
It needs some more verses about Momma, pickup trucks, getting drunk, and prison. Then you’ll have the perfect country and western song.
I get it. It must be a bitch being a more or less conservative never-Trump Republican/former Republican these days. Too conservative to join the DP mainstream, too repelled by the reptilian to buy Trump’s snake oil. The desperate yearning for a more conservative Democratic candidate to ease the dissonance is perfectly understandable.
The old school rock-ribbed coastal conservatives have been left unmoored and abandoned. They don’t have a comfortable place and I’m sympathetic. But meanwhile I’m sitting here pragmatically voting for Democratic candidates I think are a little too far right. It is what it is.
Nah, more like unmoored entitlement.
“My own guys don’t listen to me. They always used to. It only makes sense the Democrats could win if they listened to me. Why won’t they listen to me, either?”
The idea that maybe, just maybe they don’t represent any sort of majority or even decent plurality anymore and they aren’t entitled to anybody’s time or attention just never enters their heads.
That’d turn it into a David Allen Coe song.
You forgot rain.
I wish everyone would do that. Because he has now thoroughly enshittified the debate thread with BS about why he can’t vote for Harris. And everyone is lapping it up, trying to explain why it’s a bad take.
really dumb or trolling: either way he is equally not worth reading
Seriously. So, so, SO tired of those two clear-eyed truth-tellers. I wish (but don’t expect) that people just wouldn’t engage with them.
Well, not EVERYone:
