What he clarified later about his opinion was close enough to my opinions 8 years ago I felt it was worthwhile to engage a bit. Whether he’s sincere or not, he’s at least giving the impression of being undecided and evaluating the debate, and I thought it was worth a bit of discussion.
His initial complaints were bullshit, in the vein of “tan suit” level idiocy, but he at least gave some nod to substance eventually.
I don’t think he’s a troll even though some of his comments resemble trolling at times (and yeah, I know a post that looks like trolling is no different than trolling). But I thought it was at least more interesting than just more fist-pumping about how great Harris was (though that’s fine too, I share that feeling).
Otherwise I would have ignored Max as I sometimes do in other threads where his comments have absolutely no value at all.
No, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Too many posters feel the need to refute his opinion about who won the debate, if he’s using the right criteria to judge the winner, if he’s making the right choice in voting third party, if his desire to “know more about her policies” is valid. It’s eating right out of his hand.
When someone hands you a steaming pile of dogshit, you don’t have to analyze it chunk by chunk. Just drop it. Thankfully, Aspenglow just gave guidance to do that.
I don’t think he’s intentionally a troll. But I think his approach to anything that touches on values or morals is so out there, there’s no value in engaging.
Yeah, it does get a bit tiring to say, “No Max, humans don’t think like that.” It’s like arguing with an AI and just as useful. I have given up on trying to help him pass a Turing test.
Tomorrow you will be sniffing a MAGA turd again, wondering if there’s some foie gras in there. This time for sure! I mean, if there’s two thousand pounds of shit there must be something good in there. Quantity has a quality all of its own, right?
You need to modernize to keep up with the times. Now you need to work in the dog running away but then you learn immigrants ate it, lost your job only to learn the immigrants took it, and too broke for a sex change operation only to learn immigrants get them free.
That’s what I learned from the leading candidate on the Max_S side of the aisle last night.
It’s Max. Somebody who admitted they, out of a sense of ethical behavior, wouldn’t push back against actual for-real Nazi’s if they were running things and literally hunting Jews.
There’s naivete. And then there’s the SDMB whenever there’s an opportunity for intellectual navel gazing.
Does he do actual concessions, or does he do diversion/concessions where he tells you what you want to hear, then later goes back to spouting the same old shit later, just as if your conversation never happened in the first place.
I had not stumbled upon him presenting himself as “undecided” on Trump. Every time I’ve interacted with him in the past, he has been consistently anti-Trump. He always had those weird issues where he was stubborn, but he also would take a more logical (and usually more liberal) POV on many. But even considering voting for Trump after all he’s said does put him a different light for me.
Anyways, I actually came here to point out that I had an answer to his weird thread he made. A phone call Biden made (when he had COVID) when Kamala went to Delaware, where he was very complimentary of her, and saying he stood behind her. And we know Biden isn’t a good actor.
I do have one possible excuse for why Max would have created that thread. But he has to say it for me to even consider believing it. No way am I going to help him by saying it out loud.
If you take him at his word (and I’m not saying I do), but he claims he never considered voting for Trump. He was trying to decide whether to vote for Harris or a “third party”, whatever the fuck that means right now.
