As one of the posters who vacated QZ I assure you that @SayTwo was not the reason for departure nor the main cause of discussion stifling. Of the jerks who post there they barely rank. The lack of self awareness by participants in this thread is amazing, eclipsed possibly only by the degree of unjustified arrogance.

I don’t have any animosity toward you, DSeid, but going back to the Sam Wang threads in 2016, you have a tendency to be our little guru diva.
Seems to me the only thing DSeid was guilty of was a wait and see attitude and a wish to follow the numbers. He got grief in the Sweden thread because he wasn’t angry enough about Sweden’s plan.
I’m not going back to check all of the posts on that thread – I checked out because it became too tedious to debate.
Taking a ‘wait and see’ attitude was not in and of itself a problem; the problem is that Sweden’s public health or governmental response to COVID was inconsistent with what were known to be current best practices being promoted by other public health agencies in other countries. Sweden wanted to be different because…reasons.
So we all waited, and we saw the results. And the results were predictable, which we pointed out.
He said like a million times that the coming flu season would likely tell the tale. That’s now, not five months ago. You were treating it like he was a heretic rather than someone holding judgement. That’s how most of you argued with him in the thread. He was an apostate of the Mask Church. And I suspect you don’t want to look back at his posts because you know you won’t find your smoking gun.
The Sweden thread is a great illustration.
Shouting in caps. Hostility to anything other than fealty to what “is known” in a circumstance in which nothing was actually yet known. Complete misrepresentations of positions held. Stifling discussion was what seemed to be the goal.

There are many people who declare things with certainty and tolerate no deviation from or questioning of their revealed truths. Whose sole approach to information is to look for what validates what they imagine they already know and who react with anger to anyone even asking if the data is strong enough to confidently conclude something yet. Most often they are people who don’t know very much.

IIRC he was banned already from some treads for spewing misleading conclusions or ignoring evidence. Somehow his past behavior is being ignored.
He was banned from the COVID breaking news thread sometime back, according to the ATMB thread happening right now about this same poster.
That ATMB thread is trouble – people will be getting warned (maybe should have already been warned) for insulting this ignorant fuckstick in the wrong forum.
I think it would be a good idea that if you get warned for insulting someone who later is banned for trolling or socking… that directly upon their banning, your warning is officially and formally removed.

The whole point of my post was that he was calling people bigots, a serious thing, while then making light hearted jokes. FigNorton made so many clearly snarky, troll-like posts in that thread rather than addressing the issues people brought up. All I was doing was saying that using those tactics made him seem disingenuous, and recommending he change tactics.
His entire point in that thread was that people shouldn’t care if their therapist is a Trump supporter. That’s fucking stupid. Someone should care about giving financial to aid to a Trump supporter. Someone should care about letting that Trump supporter try to fix their brain, when they have to be either stupid enough to fall for Trump’s tricks or malevolent enough to agree with him. While it hadn’t happened at the time, we saw exactly what Trump supporters could rationalize away on January 6.
He found he couldn’t argue against this, so he just kept making sniping one liners. And that was what I was saying he should stop doing. It made it seem like he was trolling the thread.
Oh, and I do actually suspect he didn’t know the Jew/Jewish rule and made an honest mistake. Though I also think he should have apologized to MrDibble. Based on your troll-like behavior in that thread, he had every reason to think you were trolling here, too, and used the wrong word intentionally.
I will also acknowledge that I’ve not seen any other troll-like posts from @FigNorton. And that he has in fact added several good QZ posts, despite SayTwo’s attempt to make that forum useless. I am more than wiling to forgive/forget any past issues I had with the guy and focus on the actual murderous asshole that is the actual subject of this thread.

And he definitely has made it hard to read the QZ forum, even when I have him on ignore. I wish people could ignore him, but, as I said in ATMB, I fully understand why you guys don’t.
For the record, my mom died in part because she was not able to get a hospital bed due to this virus. Granted, I don’t know how much longer she had, and she at least left peacefully after her lung disease had given her anxiety worse than anything I’d ever felt, and that’s saying something.
Still, it hurts all the more deeply seeing this garbage still spreading.
