I believe it correctly characterizes their intent, albeit it’s not a generous interpretation of their words. What faith, after all, does the American family hold? Overwhelmingly, it’s Christian. If they’re emphasizing a Congress that shares this faith, they’re emphasizing a government body that shares the Christian religion. Shodan was banned for misogynist insults after repeatedly being cautioned against using them. He could have expressed exactly the same political views without the misogynist slurs and remained on the board. He chose not to. It was specifically his uncivil behavior that got him banned.

Let’s not engage in revisionist history here.
