Pitting Uzi's useless claim about the SDMB being an echo chamber

I’m honestly not sure whether you’re not thinking of me — or that you are, but I’m not being open enough — or that you’re lumping me in with the “literally” type.

In November, I explained that I asked myself which candidate would be more likely to support the Palestinians rather than giving Israel a free hand against them — and to support illegal aliens, rather than giving the United States a free hand against them — and then I voted the other way. If there’s a lie in that, then it’s news to me; if anything, it seems like there have been plenty of posts hereabouts to the effect of: I’ve seen a lot of Trump supporters who are shocked, SHOCKED, the leopards are eating their faces. Folks are worried their friends or relatives might be deported because they believed Trump was only going to target the “bad hombres.” Or: They truly thought the orange man would be better than Harris for the Palestinians, boy are they getting a rude awakening.

AFAICT, I knew what I was voting for, and said so.

The problem is that if you vote for candidates that support your stand on one issue, you also vote to support all the issues they support, and you vote for their character, past, present and future. Issues don’t run for office, people do.

Actually I wasn’t including you because I didn’t think you were an open supporter of the Republican Party. If you are, then I guess you would be a good example.

Also, Saint_Cad is another one. He was defending Republicans in a P&E thread (regarding the SAVE Act) and I consider him a valuable community member.

Occasionally I might agree with what Crafter Man says.

You are being far too generous.

I’m confused. Was the purpose of this thread to dispute @Uzi 's claim of the SDMB or just to state how useless it is to claim it?

Because from where I sit, it just seems like everyone is just echoing each other and “arguing” about how much they hate the right.

Everyone? I could have sworn I saw some posts where people didn’t agree with each other.

Am I being pitted? I’m disappointed as it is rather mild.

To be clear, and to fix any misunderstanding, I was referring to the echo chamber being within the thread in question. It is a given that this board swings left. But what the hell would I want to be on a board that always agreed with me? What would I learn?

So, in what aspects is that thread an echo chamber?

  1. Trudeau apparently can do no wrong. If Harper (the previous PM) had done half the things this bozo has done, we’d hear no end of the complaints. But crickets when he is caught with his, or his friends, hand in the till. Or has violated Canadian’s rights, or other scandals of the day he is involved in.
  2. Albertans are a bunch of right-wing rednecks who should just shut up and let the grownups decide how they should behave. They hate our oil and gas, and won’t allow it to be used in the East (They much prefer buying the stuff from the Saudi’s. Gotta love how they behead witches!). If you want to know how fellow Canadians perceive Albertans, then it is below the Saudis. But whatever money Alberta makes from its landlocked market, you can bet they have their hands in our pockets and expect us to support them. We’re all Canadians, after all!
FYI, oil and gas exports are the number one export from Canada being 2-3x more than the next category (vehicles) under it.

Absolutely every single thing in that post has been so dead-horse-flogged, over the years and in threads, that unpacking it (or cites), would, at least for me anyway, be so ridiculously tedious and not in the least bit productive / edifying.

That, and nothing more, so, I suppose I can concur with Uzi that that wasn’t the most egregious of transgressions - just incredibly super annoying.
Which, deserved to be brought up in this forum.
