I only recently started going downtown about two years ago with a friend who turned into a stalker. (Almost). It had been years since I hung out down there.
The best places I know of are all in the suburbs, like the North Park Lounge Clubhouse.

So where are we going to meet Feb 23-5? My idea is Harrisburg, basically because it’s somewhat near both Pitt and B-more/DC, but some NJ/DE dopers could make it and given that we’re setting it up far in advance, some NY dopers might be able to make the trek:)

I am an ex-Pittsburgher. I moved away in '94. I was planning to stay in Pittsburgh forever, but life intervened and I ended up in New Jersey. CMU class of '93, btw.
And let me say that I am really glad that the O is still around. I heard a nasty rumor that it had been closed down.
Anyway, depending on date and finances, I might well be willing to travel to a Pittsburgh dopefest. I’d love an excuse to come back for a visit.
Thoughts on locations:
–Hotlicks in Shadyside. Maybe we could get the upstairs room
–Gullifty’s in Squirrel Hill (boring, I know, but a good place for a group)
–Somehwere on the South Side, and we can go bar-crawling after we eat.
–Are Rosebud and Metropol still around? Can you get in if you’re under 21?
–The O is always an option, too, but I don’t know if my 29-year-old stomach could handle it.
