We’re playing hooky today and watching the bonus features on the second Monsters, Inc. disc. Watching the production feature, there appears to be a guy at the Pixar facility hanging out with a chimpanzee.
Is he… just a random employee that happens to bring his pet chimp to work? A Pixar mascot of sorts? Was he brought in for the production movie for a specific reason? Was there a chimp line on the budget? There’s no real mention of the guy or his chimp, he’s just there, visible in several shots.
That’s the joke. A chimpanzee that appears in most of the BTS scenes, with no explanation given? Hilarious!
Oh man, are you saying I’ve been wooshed by a chimp?!
The chimp figures more prominently in an easter egg after the Production tour in the “Humans only” section.
