Place the states (game)

Anyone try the state capitals? I got about 38/50.

I didn’t even know New Hampshire has any cities.

Had Missouri and Wyoming early without anything adjacent, and had Nevada nothing adjacent except Oregon, so I was a little off on the E-W axis.

What’s so hard about Delaware? You’ve got good coastline. Coastline = easy!

Direct link here.

42/50, average error 15 miles.

43/50, average error 83 miles. Don’t suppose anyone has something like that for the countries of Europe?

Just answered my own question. http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/European_Geography.htm

Advanced intermediate level looks similar to the states game.

44/50, average error 18 miles. 282 seconds. That was just out of bed with no coffee yet, and getting Colorado, Rhode Island and Wyoming first. The square ones in the middle always throw me.

Second time, 48/50, average error miles, 247 seconds. And it was two of the same ones that threw me - Rhode Island (if I could get MA before it, I’d be fine, but not a chance of that for me, apparently) and Wyoming.

45/50 with an average error of 18 miles. Not too shabby.

46/50 on the intermediate Stae Capital - one spelling mistake and who know that it wouldn’t take Sain for the first four letter of Saint Paul?

Anyone tried Advanced Africa yet?

I managed 45/53

US: 92%, average error 23 miles, 329 seconds.

Europe: 80%, average error 93 miles, 286 seconds. :o

I can’t believe I got San Marino and the Vatican City right, but Malta!? And how was I to know the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia is now called FYROM?

Africa Advanced Intermediate: 38/53, 72%, 226 seconds. Not bad I suppose, considering my shameful ignorance of the continent.

Asia Advanced Intermediate: 44/47, 94%, 224 seconds. Those damn stans get me every time.

On the US map, I got 50/50, average error of 10 miles. Those Mid-west states are hard with nothing to reference them to, till you’ve got one or two in place.

Sadly, I could never do the Africa or European ones with that accuracy.

It’s easier once some of the states are filled in. I knew about where New Hampshire went, but I was off. I was able to throw in Delaware and Rhode Island with no problem, though.

I’m confused. If you got 50 out of 50, how did you have any error at all?

As Rick mentioned in the OP, I got 49/50 on the US one. I just tried the intermediate level game for Africa and got only 30/53 with 563 mile error rate. :smack:

USA (Advanced) 36/50 - 35 miles; 531 secs
Europe Level 7 (mega-expert) 36/44; 264 secs

I did it several times, but I have to say, I got a bad draw on states on my last one.

Idaho, South Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, Rhode Island were the first five. :frowning:

My average was about 15 miles off 48/50 over four tries.

I grew up in Missouri and I swear we aren’t that far east.

I dunno - I got Wyoming slightly off, but got the rest right.

37/50. I was guessing most of the non-coastal ones. After you’ve done about half it’s basically a jigsaw puzzle.

I got 43/50 “perfect” with an average error of 41 miles, but I can’t drag things effectively with my mouse. I knew where everything actually was, it’s just that the software would register a `drop’ before I actually intended to place anything on the actual canvas.

I agree about the jigsaw-puzzle nature of the whole proceeding, but I placed Vermont pretty damned accurately with no other states on the cavas besides Florida.

[ul][li]11/11 or 100% on Expert World[/li][li]35/44 or 80% on Intermediate Europe[/li][li]18/24 or 75% on Advanced South America[/li][li]37/44 or 84% on Intermediate Advanced Asia[/li]41/53 on or 77% on Intermediate Africa but that was a total fluke. Average error was 371 miles[/ul]
